Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Baby shower gift question...

I was hoping mom's with a few month experience under their belt can help be. I am going to a baby shower next weekend for someone who is having twins. I was wondering as a new mom, which would you find most useful

A case of diapers, a case of wipes and 2 cute outfits

Bottles, bottle accessories and two cute outfits

a bouncy seat and 2 cute outfits

OR a bunch of cute outfits not on their registry?

Decisions decisions...

TIA!

Re: Baby shower gift question...

  • I would say either the bouncy seat or the diapers/wipes.  The outfits are fun but chances are she'll get more than enough clothes and would get more use out of the practical stuff.

The bottles are ok, but she might not know if she likes them until after the babies are here.  For example, she might find out that the bottles she wants leak or the babies don't like them, so then it will be a "waste".

    Have fun!

  • I think the bouncy seat and outfits OR the diapers, wipes and outfits. If you get diapers, get size 1 or 2 Smile

  • I'd go with the bouncy seat.  I didn't even consider how useful it would be to have a place to put DD down while I peed!

  • -The bouncy seat and outfits. Buy 3-6 months or bigger.

My babies were sensitive to diaper brands. E couldn't use the Swaddlers, and G couldn't use Huggies. And by couldn't use, I mean they got angry red diaper rashes due to allergies to the brand. So I don't think diapers are a good idea. Same goes for wipes.

Babies are picky about bottles. G would only use the Playtex nipples. Everything else he screamed at.

The bouncy seat is a very useful, thoughtful gift.  It frees up your hands so you can take a quick shower or make a meal, but the baby is happy because you're in sight.  Buy bigger outfits because babies only wear newborn outfits for about one week, then they are on to 0-3 month outfits for only about 2 or 3 weeks.

  • I would def do the diapers/wipes and the 2 cute oufits!  You can't ever go wrong w/ diapers/wipes!

  • I would go with the bouncy seat or a play mat with the arches over the top.
  • I think the diapers or bouncy seat are great.  Go ahead an buy clothes (even though she'll get a million outfits!) because it's everyone's favorite thing to buy.

My only other advice would be to tape a gift receipt to everything you give.  Baby shower generosity is overwhelmingly wonderful but it leads to a lot of returns/exchanges.

  • I would say bouncy seat and diapers and/or wipes. You can NEVER have enough wipes!

Obviously I don't know what she is having, but odds are she will get a ton of clothes.  I like to go the practical route!

  • As a mom of twins I would def recommend diapers/wipes and cute outfits...esp a few sizes bigger: size 2 or 3 in diapers and size 6-9 months in clothes (weather appropriate). Those def came in handy...as the PP said PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE attach the gift receipt Smile. It was such a pain trying to exchange without one...

  • Thank you ladies! So helpful! I was leaning towars the bouncy set or diapers. I can probably convince DH to buy the diapers and wipes and I will get the seat.
  • As a twin mom what I would have appreciated the most was diapers and wipes. The second best thing would have been a gift card to the store. I know that wasn't one of your options but that was most helpful for what we realized we needed AFTER the girls were here. While I appreciated everything we were given everyone buys clothes... and there were a lot of other things we needed when it came down to it. My girls hated both bouncy and swing until just about 6 weeks ago. They LOVED the rock n play.
  • As another twin mom, the diapers/wipes would be my preference.  Or anything on her registry.

Go ahead and get clothes, but for sure attach the gift recipt.  Mine rarely wore outfits since we didn't go out and about all that often.  I loved getting clothes from Target with a gift recipt since they went right back to the store and exchanged for the million other things I really needed.
