Our baby boy is due in a few short weeks and my husband recently ran across the name Seton. WDTY? I know its rare, but I'm just looking for feedback at this point. Thanks!
I grew up with a girl named Seton, she was named after the saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and her family was hardcore Catholic. I always loved the name but because of the saint and my personal association it's a girls name to me.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
Both DH & I are alumnae of SHU, so immediately that's what I thought when I saw it. If I met someone w/that name, I would think either alumnus or uber catholic. FWIW, our freshmen year, there was a girl named "Setona" and no lie, her last name was Hall. Seriously, where else could she go to college?
I agree w/the Sutton recomendation. It's one of my guilty pleasure names!
To all who gave polite opinions...thanks! To everyone who went on to repeat over and over again what others said...is it really necessary? To the people who said that since they are delivering at Seton hospital I probably shouldn't name my child that, I'm delivering at Luke's so you probably shouldn't name your kid Luke.
I never said we were for sure just asked for constructive opinoins.

My first thought was "Satan"
I immediately think of Elizabeth Ann Seton, first American saint. Then I think of Seton Hall University.
Further pondering leads me to think of the associated words Seitan and Satan. So, overall, I would vote no.

Not. A. Fan.
Makes me think of Seton Hall University. And I never thought of it until it was mentioned...it does sound like Satan. Not good.

This and I've never lived anywhere close to NJ.
I'm not digging it for a first name. Maybe as a middle name. Do you or your husband have ties to the university?
first think i thought of

This.
My first thought: "What, Satan?"
I think that speaks for itself.
Growing Up Olson
Beyond the Satan reference, my first thought is a hospital. There's a Seton Hospital in Austin.

Ditto that. I had DS at Seton.
And it's way too close to Satan for my liking.
