I loved the safety ratings on the My Ride 65 and that the weight limit for rear-facing goes up to 40 lbs. Livy loves it. She is much more comfortable and doesn't fuss when I put her in like she did with her infant seat (she really hated being so far reclined) and she even took a nap in it on our way up to the Bumps & Babies Fair.
My problem is that rear-facing, it is nearly impossible to access the strap to loosen and tighten the harness! I've only taken her out in it twice now, and both times it was so difficult to access that I was yanking and pulling on the seat and the strap and my poor baby was looking at me like I'd lost my mind. When I finally get her situated, I'm out of patience and breath!
So what would you do? Would you return the seat and try another one (my second choice was a Britax Roundabout 50)? I'm worried that the problem is with the seats in my car and that I'll have the same problem. Or would you try moving the car seat from the middle spot (where we currently have it) to behind the passenger seat?
Our car only has the LATCH system on the two outside seats, so right now it's in the middle seat, fastened with the seat belt. Not sure if this would make difference. TIA!
Re: I have a love/hate relationship with our new carseat
My car doesn't have a back middle seat, so we have always put Max's carseat behind the passenger seat of my car. In the rear facing position, I never had a hard time with the harness. I have an Evenflo Triumph and I cannot sing the praises of that seat enough. It has a knob that you can dial to tighten the harness, and a release lever to losen it.
Try installing your car seat in one of the other seats, only if you are comfortable with this option, and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then that seat is not a good fit for your car, and you should return it. If that solves your problem, then you are golden.

I have a bit of the same issue with our Britax Marathon 70, it is hard to pull the strap tight, and then loosen it again. I find that if on the first pull it doesn't loosen, if I let go and try again it works fine. DS seat is behind the drivers seat because of where I park at home, can't access the passgener side of the car very easily. ( our boat is under the carport as well)
Thanks ladies! I think I'll give it some more time and if it doesn't get better I'll try it in the side seat. Then if that doesn't work I guess we'll be looking into the Evenflo Triumph.
Nemo, what seat is it? The regular Evenflo Triumph looks to have a similar system, but one of the other ones, maybe the XL something, looks like it's different.
ETA: Never mind, Nemo, I'm retarded. The seat I thought has a similar system is the Evenflo TRIBUTE.
No worries. I have friends that have the Britax and had issues with it at first, but now they love it! I think some seats take time to get used to.
