Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I need the scoop on poop

Peyton butt turns blood red & screams when I change her every time she poops, if it's even remotely soft.  Every single area of her that the poop has touched kind of raises up and turns red.  I just don't understand how she literally gets a diaper rash within mins of pooping?  Last night she was in so much pain from it she was walking funny and I had to have Dh help me change her bc she was crying so bad. It's not her diapers, and if it is we are fvcked because she does have a reaction to every.single.diaper (excluding super expensive ones, we've never tried) except for huggies. It's only when she poops though, opposed to just wearing the diaper like her other rashes.

Is anyone else's LO having this problem?  I don't even know what to google!

Re: I need the scoop on poop

  • Could she have a food allergy or sensitivity?  I'm lactose-intolerant and if I have too much dairy, things can get a little acidic - which is incredibly irritating.

  • Can you pinpoint a food correlation with the poop that's causing the diaper rash? Maybe there is a food that she's eating, that's causing her poop to be more acidic.

  • She just had allergy testing but they did mostly environmental and to recheck her dog allergy.

Do you think it's something that would show up on the RAST test?  Her diet is pretty limited, she doesn't eat "new" things very often.  I usually attribute her softer stools to teething, she has 4 coming in now.  Although she did (along with the whole family) have a stomach bug last week and that was awful too.

I'm lactose intolerant, so I guess it could be that but she couldn't eat anything with cheese until over 12 months bc it constipated her.

Ugh poor baby, i'll just add another appointment to her list that I need to make.
