TTC After a Loss

Hair Dye (stupid question inside)

Hey ladies, What are your feelings with dying your hair in the 2 week wait? Mine desperately needs it and I think I O'd about 4-5 days ago (not charting this cycle).

Re: Hair Dye (stupid question inside)

  • I know you are not supposed to when you are PG but I honestly do not think it could harm anything at all a few days after O.  I am no professional but thats my opinion.

ETA:  I am dying my hair tomorrow or the next day.

  • When pregnant with DD, I highlighted my hair. The colour does not touch the scalp. So, if worried, go with that. You will be fine.

  • Go for it! Especially if you plan to not dye your hair in the first trimester.......safer now than later! But I'm a bad one to ask, I'm religiously get my hair done every 7-8 weeks.

Seriously though, google it, there doesn't seem to be much risk especially in the "before it's pink" stage.

  • I agree. I'd do it now, better to be safe! I mean, if we go with the "Drink til it's Pink" theory, I don't think hair dye would do much damage compared to alcohol.

  • From what I've read and what my OB has told me, the hair dyes used today are not as harmful as everyone makes them out to be.

I personally don't use the cheap box color anymore.  The smell is very strong and they're irritating, which leads me to believe they're not as safe as the salon quality products.

If you're worried about it you could go to a salon.  Ask them to use foils instead of putting it directly on your scalp.  I usually just get highlights put in to break up my roots and help it blend.  That way no dye on my skin and I'm not inhaling strong fumes.

Same.. I like this!  I just died my hair last weekend and asked my hair dresser for future info.  she said you can highlight or update color without touching scalp if you want to.
