I'm 4wk 3d pregnant and have come down with a pretty wicked cold. I am fine during the day, but when it is time to go to bed, I can't stop coughing. Is there anything I can take? Are cough drops safe? TIA!

Re: Is there anything safe to take for a cold?
Call your doctor to find out for sure. I had a cold similar to that two weeks ago. My doctor said only Tylenol, cough drops, vitamin C and lots of fluids. I lived with the humidifier on nonstop.
I would double check with your doctor just to be safe.

Did the humidifier help? I never thought about trying to use ours.

Robitussen (plain, nothing special) and Benedryl (again.. plain) and Tylenol.
If you get sick enough (I did) they can give you a breathing Tx in the office, but it's a class "b" drug.
I double checked the medicine guide my OB office gave me - and here is what is mentioned:
For nasal congestion/colds:
Sudafed, Actifed or Tasvist D, Robitussin Max Strength Cough & Cold. Robitussin DM, Tylenol Flu, Tylenol Cold.
That's verbatim from my guide from the Institute for Women's Health. The doc told me the specifically stick to what was mentioned, to not get any other variations as they have other active meds in them.
As for cough drops, my co-workers told me that their OBs recommended cough drops. But nothing is said in my OTC guide.
