Pregnant after a Loss

Agony. (pooping mentioned)

**Warning:  Really TMI***

Just over a week ago I had a HORRIBLE very large, rock-hard poop issue that caused agony (and sorry-- tmi --rear-end blood) for me.

I thought I was all set since then: I've been on Colace, prune juice, tons of water, and a cup of decaf coffee every few days (to keep things moving).  I've also had a ton of bean soup in the last few days.  I'd been going what I thought was enough.

I was wrong.

It happened again this morning.  Agony.

I feel like I need one of those tubes they give hemmorroid surgery patients--just in order to sit down without feeling complete discomfort and muscle fatigue/soreness in my region.

I'm upping the Colace intake and will talk with my doc on Monday about what else I can do.  Any suggestions other than what I mentioned?

I know I'm not alone in this and hate this for all of us.  Like we don't have to deal with enough being PGAL.  It's all worth it for us to get our healthy take-home babies, I just wish the experience could be more...pleasant.

Re: Agony. (pooping mentioned)

  • Miralax. It's what saved me and my rear end, the Colace wasn't cutting it.

Also, cut back on fiber (esp. apples, they apparently make things a million times worse.) At this point, fiber will just make things worse. The juice and water are key, and I found that dried apricots/cranberries helped.

Be sure to run that all by your doc, but that's what they told me at the ER when I had to go in for an impacted bowel, and it did make all the difference.

  • Milk of magnesia for a few days until things are nice and soft. Then start Miralax.

  • Sounds like you need fluids. If you aren't already, you need to drink close to a gallon of water a day! Daunting I know, but i downloaded an app for my iPhone to keep track.
