So I had some red bleeding/spotting last Wednesday and I had an ultrasound the next day and saw a baby with a heartbeat dating 1 week ahead of my dates (even though I charted) which I thought was a great sign. I only spotted a little bit after that and only a couple of times. They drew my betas on Wednesday evening and Friday evening. First draw was like 60,500 (estimate) and the next one was close to 62,000. My midwife was slightly concerned about this, that my numbers didnt double. I was 7 weeks 3 days at the first draw (ultrasound dating 8 weeks 3 days). Anyone have any experience with this? Did it turn out okay? I havent had any more spotting in days at all (not even brown) so I am hoping for the best.
Re: HCG numbers not doubling?
I'm not sure of the numbers, but when they get that high, I thought they were not supposed to double, and it was just important that they rise. The most important thing is seeing growth on an ultrasound.
Correct me if I'm wrong, ladies.
I agree with this
This. Once baby is visible on an u/s, that is the best indication of viability (appropriate h/b & growth). Past about 6wks the HCG is not really a great indicator of what is or is not happening inside.
