Breast Milk Ice Cream Thoughts?

Well I am no one to judge breast milk is good for baby but using it for ice cream? who is brave enough to eat someone else's milk? I know men wouldn't they be grossed out by it. But I know some people who would eat it.

Re: Breast Milk Ice Cream Thoughts?

  • First, "grossed out" is not what I think--- this is human milk, which makes more sense for humans to consume than the cow/goat alternatives that are the norm. And your generalization that men would be "grossed out" is not true- H said the same exact thing to me. This company is pasteurizing and screening the women for diseases.

What I am annoyed with is that this breast milk is being sold for novelty purposes and not going to better causes like premature babies or mothers who aren't able to breastfeed but want to give their babies breast milk.

But whatever- it's everyone's choice to sell and/or eat.

  • Not for me, I prefer my milk and milk products to come from cows, no matter how much sense it may make logically to have human products. To me breast milk is great for babies that can't get their nutrition from outside sources. If adults were meant to have breastmilk then women would be lactating all the time, not just post birth.

  • At 1st I thought the post was asking or stating making breast milk ice cream as in you had some left over and thought DC would finish up the supply that way. Creative. For commercial purposes. Umm I think NMS. Extreme in some ways. Guess I will be reading labels from now on just a little more often and with intent. Thanks for the share.

  • Sorry, but it does gross me out. And I think it is ridiculous they are using it to serve icecream for $23 a scoop when it could go to feed a child.

  • I think it's gross!!!!!!!  It would feel like I was a cannibal or something.  For some reason, it is okay in my mind to drink a cow's milk, but not some stranger lady's! :)

  • I think it's kind of weird(?) I guess.  But when you think about it, isn't it kind of weird that we drink milk from cows nipples?  Cows that lay in their own manure?  (Granted it's pasteurized and the udders are cleaned first).  Meh, to each their own I guess.

  • I guess if it was making DD some ice cream out of my leftover BM then that's okay (but we don't generally eat ice cream anyways...).  But I, personally, will not be eating someone else's BM and I don't want anyone else in my family doing it either.  Just NMS. But to each their own I guess.
