If you are considering a female name with ties to Africa, you might want to consider Musadi (or Mosadi). It means woman in several southern African dialects. I had a room-mate with this name in college and LOVED it. I would use it, except I think it might be taken as disrespectful to use as a name for a melanin-impaired child with no ties to Africa.
I knew an Amani in HS but it was a guy. I do like that name. Does it mean "Faith"? I thought that's what he said. I'm not sure I can say this on a public forum (I'll delete if you think I should) but anyway his name is Amani Bell. I kind of think Amani Belle would be cute for a girl. HTH

(Y) Yep!
I really like Amani, and for what it's worth, I prefer it over Allegra. Allegra makes me think of the alergy med.
Kenya is nice as well. I'm not a huge fan of Ebony.
I know one too many horrors named Ebony.
Kenya was my choice b/c Amani sounds masculine to me.
Plz don't choose Allegra (in ur siggy). Isn't that a medication? And it sounds too whimsical and fairy tale-ish.
