One of my FB buddy's had her baby in December and everyone keeps commenting on how cute the baby is and I was just thinking...."i don't get it, I don't see it that way." I felt so bad!!! But I have another friend who had her baby in July and clearly the baby looks handsome his face was even used on like 5 billboards in the city that the hospital put up a couple of months later after his birth. My friend just said she and her baby just were lucky to be there right time the photographer was looking for a baby billboard face but I think the photographer agrees her baby is just gorgeous!!!

*raises hand* totally have thought about this. Not all babies ARE cute...contrary to popular opinion!
I work in the newborn nursery and we often discuss this. Some babies just arn't born "cute!" I have already told them I don't want to hear the opinions on my little man. Just remember you love your child and that is all that matters, obviously you turned out cute in the end...right?

Yeah we've thought about it too. He's more worried about it than I am. He has a feeling our baby is going to come out with dark blonde curly hair and blue eyes like some biracial kids do, and look nothing like him. He doesn't want it to look like a 'really tanned white kid' lol
Oh my goodness I think those babies are the cutest! I think of Hank Baskett and Kendra's baby. I look at your sig pic of the two of you and can't wait to see how your LO looks. I honestly think there is nothing cuter than a biracial baby.
Thank you That's what everyone's been telling us too! We both have dark hair, mine's just coloured in my sig pic but my dad is a red head so my guy is all worried that the baby will pick up my dad's genes lol I think we'll be fine in the end. I told him if it's a girl maybe she'll end up lookin like Halle Berry lol
That's probably the last thing a Dad wants to hear! haha
How funny my husband and I talk about this all the time and we decided if we do have an ugly baby after everyone leaves us alone we will prob. joke about it but I am assuming that since it is our child we will think it is so cute!!LOL I love that someone posted about this because I do think there are more ugly then cute out there!!
We have some friends and family with seriously GORGEOUS babies. I can only think of one or two not super-cute babies we know right now, the rest could all be baby models. I half-jokingly talk to my stomach saying "you'd better be cute, we've got some serious competition out there." I think he'll be cute, both Hubs and I were pretty cute, but at least I know he will be well-dressed!

Yes, I am secretly afraid of this too Even worse is that I'm afraid our little boy will have red hair (no offense to any red heads out there...I love it on women but not so much on men). MH and I both have brown hair but his beard hair grows in with a slight red tint to it. I am really hoping he didn't pass that down to our little boy.
Man, between this and my Unpopular Opinion post, I really sound like a horrible person
Agreed! One of the handful of reasons why I was psyched to hear that baby #2 is another girl.

I personally think most newborns are ugly. Even my own children. I do however think they are precious. I think DS1 was a very beautiful newborn and toddler, DS2 I thought looked like an alien with huge blue eyes and no lips, even as a toddler he was kinda funny looking, DD I thought was an ugly newborn but around 6 months became and absolute doll. I hope this baby will turn cute eventually.
Honestly, I think most babies look a little... traumatized(??) and not so cute in that first week or so. Most will grow into their cuteness... most. The exception, I think, are C-Section babies. I guess they avoid that initial cone-head thing most newborns have going on. That's why they throw a hat on most newborns
Is anyone else nervous about having a not-so-cute baby?
I mean let's face it....there are some very unattractive infants out there. That's not to say they don't turn into adorable toddlers, but sometimes you just have to hope no one asks you your opinion of how cute their child is. I know several first hand. Their parents are very attractive but for whatever reason, the infants just are NOT cute. I was one of them. I look at my baby pictures and just cringe!
I'm so nervous that I'm going to have one of those!
Yep- I think about it too!
My mom always talks about how she used to think she was biased about how beautiful I was as a baby , but then my little brother was born and she knew I really was cute, because he looked like an alien! Ha. When he plumped up around 6 months though, he was freaking adorable.
So... moms aren't always delusional. And most ugly newborns I've seen have turned out pretty stinking cute eventually.
I am nervous about having an ugly baby. My niece was beautiful when she was born and I want my little guy to be just as cute. My mom thinks that he is going to look like my sister when he is born because a lot of my symptoms are the same as she had, I am ok with that because my sister looked like the Gerber baby so if he turns out like that I will be a happy mommy.
We should post a picture of us when we were babies sometime it might be fun to see what each other looked like as babies.
Loving life with two boys who are 10 months apart and can't wait for team green baby to join us and thinking daily about our angel who was with us for a very short time. (CP at 4 weeks and 5 days)
I'm hoping that my baby ends up like most of my mom's kids did - cute from the beginning.
One of my sisters is the poster child for the ugly-duckling story. She was a terribly ugly baby, not at all attractive as a toddler/preteen, but then turned into this amazing beauty around age 14. She's GORGEOUS now.
As happy as that ending is, I'd really rather have an average looking child right from the get-go.
I have thought about this too, but not so much of a worry because I'll love her either way.
What I am worried about is what kind of personally she'll have. Will she be a happy/friendly baby? My 11-year-old sister was a very cute and adorable baby (funny note: we look a lot alike, but somehow I was not a cute baby; I think is her eyes). People will give her money and toys because of how cute she was (well still is), but every time someone tried to get near her to talk to her and say how cute she was, she'll start crying. It was embarrassing. She was a happy baby at home, but not with other people. So, I am afraid that my baby will just be that kind of baby. I would love my baby to be friendly.
I love babies, and even though they are not that cute, something that I really like from a baby is when he/she is friendly and a happy one. When they are not friendly, you even forget how cute they are. H thinks the same thing.

in the beginning Jacob had his moments and DH even said he looked like the grinch at one time (he did), but now he is super cute, IMO, of course..lol. I have seen many babies that I take a second look at and try not to stare, but what can you do-you get what you get...

i would say yes but considering i have 2 kids already and literally from the time they were born to now EVERYONE(0eople i dont know) stops me to tell me how cute my kids are and i have been asked to have my kids model childrens clothingsince they were babies(i didnt do it i think they are to young) so this little girl has to be cute as well

I hear you, Pretzel. MH's sideburns have a little bit of red in them, even though he has brown hair. I hope the baby doesn't get that. MH is adopted, so I don't know what hair color his parents have.
Still, I'm not as concerned about that as having an ugly baby. Or a baby with a crazy misshapen head. I know sometimes they come out with coneheads and they grow out of it, but I just really want to adore my baby when I first see him. If he's ugly or conehead-ed, I just know I will cry.

Does anyone in your family have red hair? Red hair is a recessive trait, meaning that both you and your DH would have to give the trait to your LO in order for it to have red hair.
I haven't spent much time thinking about this as I think MOST babies are pretty darn cute pretty early, but I have thought about what baby will look like directly after birth and have hoped DH won't be too freaked out by it. He's not so good with blood and doctor's offices and the like, so I'm hoping he doesn't start gagging if the baby comes out vernix-coated with a cone-head and a touch of jaundice!
My sister's babies were all pretty cute even as newborns, and my SIL just had a baby who was absolutely adorable when I met him at 8 hours old and has only gotten cuter since, so I'm hopeful...
I am totally worried about this too!! I always wonder whether people actually know that their baby is not so cute. My friend's sister knew that her baby wasn't the cutest. Luckily, once he hit about 1, he became very cute.

Nope! LOL!
Even with my first, I never thought that.
Now that I already have 2 kids, I KNOW I make insane cute babies!
