I will be 36 weeks tomorrow, and we are leaving for four days (we will be about 4-5 hrs away from home). I was just thinking about the carseat, and was wondering if I should at least bring it along...that way if anything happens we at least have our carseat.
When did you put the carseat in your cars?
Re: Carseat in car already?
If you're going that far away from home this late into your pregnancy, I'd not only take the car seat, but I'd take my hospital bag also... just in case.
Although, to answer your question, I'm 37w 4d and I still don't have my car seat installed - hopefully will this weekend. But, I'm not going any further from home then about 1 hour until I have this baby...
I"m surprised your doctor let you go that far away from home for that long. Totally off the subject, but I would find out which hospitals take your insurance in the city where you're going just in case you go into labor.
To answer your question, we are installing and getting ours checked today. However, like PPs I'm not going any more than 1 hour away from the hospital until LO arrives.

We are installing the base in both of our cars this weekend.
Like others said, I can't believe your doctor is letting you go so far either. Definitely take your hospital bag with you.
I think it's a good idea to bring it.
We attempted to put ours in last weekend (plan was to get it in between 36 and 37w) but realized we made a mistake in buying the biggest infant seat on the market. It fits, but it's just incredibly hard to maneuver and the size is just...unnecessary. We're returning it this weekend for a smaller one.
This exactly. God forbid I get into an accident between now and when LO arrives, but I'd feel better about just replacing the base than replacing the whole seat. I'm sure my wallet thanks me!!
I would definitely take both your seat and your hospital bags!!
will put the bases in soon, need to vacuum both cars first but will leave carrier in house as we are only 10 minutes away from hospital.
I would take yours and maybe the hospital bag just to be safe.
Ours isn't going in our car until DH comes to pick me up from the hospital on the last day.
But being 4-5 hours away, I would probably want it, just in case.
