Measles outbreak

Hey, I just wanted to give anyone a heads up who doesn't already know about this. My Pediatrician sent an email yesterday saying there was a child with a case of Measles in Vancouver and that he recommends anyone who is over 12 months who hasn't had the MMR vaccine to get it. When I picked my husband up from work last night he asked if I knew that there was a Measles case in Clackamas. I told him there was also one in Vancouver. Today I called and made an appt to get the MMR for my son and they called it a Measles outbreak.

My understanding from the news report was that the baby who contracted measles did so in India or China (sorry can't remember exactly where, sleep deprived) so I assumed the baby was young enough that they would not have been scheduled for the MMR yet. I could be wrong though.

Regardless, it still really angers me. I see helpless newborns with preventable diseases like measles and whooping cough at the Children's Hospital because they contracted it from a sibling, parent or community member. Tragic.
