diaper rash

Poor Lotte has a bad rash. I have nystatin from the Dr thinking it was a yeast infection but it does not seem like it is getting better and she cries every time I change her it sucks. Does anyone have any tricks I don't know about?

We go back to the Dr on Wed because she is having a hard time gaining weight so I will be back at the Dr soon and I don't want to go two days in a row.

Thanks

Erin

Re: diaper rash

  • Try 1% hydrocortisone cream and make sure you air dry completely before applying the cream. When I had my son, we tried every diaper cream available on him and nothing helped, som eeven made his rashes worse. His pedi recommended the hydrocortisone and it worked wonders!

  • When DD gets a bad rash that does not improve with in a day I usually start to alternate a typical diaper rash cream (zinc oxide) and A&D.  We also had nystatin cream from DD when she was an infant that I still use on really bad rashes for overnight, it always helped.  Also try to let the skin breathe, although you'll likely get peed on.   DS hasn't had a rash yet.
