Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Has anyone's LO said their first word?

I was just curious as to when to expect this. My LO will say things that sounds like words but I know she is way too young. Plus she is using the dada sound a lot and I refuse to hear anything but mama for her first word. Lol

Re: Has anyone's LO said their first word?

  • DD babbles a LOT, and I swear I've heard her say "duck" a couple times, but I'm probably just hearing things!

We do have a farm animals toy that goes through all the farm animals, so it is possible.

  • DD is babling, she sais the "dadadada" "heeeey dadadadada" and mutters something that sounds just like " I did it" It's more like "i deeeeeed it"

  • Nothing here. Just MMMMMM and gurgling sounds.

  • She babbles mamamamama frequently, but not in association with me. Daycare tried to tell me it was ("she didn't start saying it until you walked in the room!") but I doubt DD has any idea. I do try and reinforce it that I am mama. I also try not to say dada and let DH work on that one.

  • My LO says dada all the time!  I can't wait to hear mama!
PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps...

  • Sometimes he says "dada", and "baba" for bottle.  He also attempts to say "dog" when he sees my aunt's dog.  It's still very inconsistent though.

  • She says dada.  I thought I have also heard hi.  She doesn't associate these words with anything, they just slip out.
  • E babbles regularly - lots of daa daa daa - but she's not trying to make words yet. Can't wait for that! Once she starts, she'll be going nonstop.
  • I guess I am the unlucky one.  DS "talks" all the time, but still only uses the vowels.  Maybe I heard a W in there, but mostly different variations of a,e,&o's.
  • DD says "dada" and "mama" I THINK she might know that I am "Mama" but hard to say.

  • He says heeeyyyy and heeeeeyyy youuuuu, but I'm not convinced he means too. He babbles a lot and says bababa (never took a bottle) mamama and whoa.

  • Just oohs, ahs, gurgles, and raspberries here...with the occasional ah-goo. LO is six months (going on 7).
  • DD says "mamamama" all the time, and sometimes says "dadada" but we don't think she associates them with us yet.

However we are pretty sure she knows how to say "hi".  Lately when you give a big smile and say "hiii!" she will mimic the pitch, it kind of sounds more like "haaaa" but we think she is trying.  Too cute :)

  • we get a very distinct "hey" when she sees us in the morning, @ daycare pick up, etc
  • "douche" Stick out tongue  That was his favorite word for awhile.

Now he says "bababababa" and slipped with "dadadada", but I let that one go. Wink

  • I don't think so, but she also says dada and mama, and also ba (ball), deeda (diaper), mma (mik), etc.  I think she's just babbling or copying us.  With mma, it sounds more like mom, so we're debating whether she actually means me or not, since I usually get her milk anyway, but it's the only time she says it, lol.
