Trying to Get Pregnant

New blue jeans. Suggestions?

I have recently come to the realization that the blue jeans I am wearing are making my hips, butt, and thighs look big.  Don't get me wrong, I definitely have big hips, butt, and thighs I just don't want my jeans to spell that out for everyone.  For the last 3 or 4 years the only thing I have worn are Express jeans.

Does anyone have and suggestions on jeans that might help hide my rear?

  • trouser style jeans and jeans with a slightly flair leg will slim thighs and make your waste look smaller. Jeans with big pockets like flap pockets that button down make your butt look bigger than jeans with smaller pockets. I like Dylan George jeans and William Rast. William Rast fits big too so you can go down a size which I adore :) HTH!

  • I like Old Navy jeans.  They are stretchy and aren't too low of rise.  Also, they aren't a pretty penny like most jeans!

  • Well I have the opposite problem so I cant help. All my jeans are designed to help make my butt look like it exists haha. Sorry girl!

  • I can relate to this.

My advice is to spend more money on a good pair and try on a ton of options. Go to Macy's or Nordstroms and try on Sevens, Joe Jeans, Citizens, etc - see what is the most flattering. If you don't want to spend the money, you can at least see what cuts, pockets, etc work best on you and look for a similar pair. My experience has been that it's worth the $ to spend a little more since you wear them so often!

Also, a dark wash seems to make everything look smaller :)

  • I have had good luck with Paige, AG and Citizens. More recently, Banana Republic has been good to me. Specifically the curvy dark wash boot- they rock. I am petite, but have bigger thighs/butt and they shape it well.

Worst jeans I bought in the last year were Loft skinny jeans- they stretched out so much in 2 wears it looked like I had a diaper on.Tongue Tied

I hate when jeans stretch out, and I am super picky, so jean shopping is always at the way bottom of my list.

I second PP.. its so worth the extra $$ to find a GOOD pair of jeans vs. spending less on jeans that aren't right and being self conscious and having to start the process all over. Nordstroms and Bloomingdales have great sales people that will help you figure it all out (they always are so patient with me)

I'll second that on Banana Republic... I currently love their jeans. I am wearing a pair from Express right now and I like them, but they don't have enough "back" to them in my opinion. I'm a size 4, so I don't have a huge behind, but more junk in my trunk than express jeans are designed for I think. They make my butt look good, but I feel like I'm constantly adjusting them.

    THIS.

  • Thanks for all of the advice ladies.  I must be so far out of the jean loop.  I have never heard of so many of these brands.  Citizens? Where can I find those.  So many of you have suggested them.  I think I will spend a day at the mall trying on ALL kinds of jeans and see what works best.  That is great advice.

I am currently fitting into a size 10-12 (at Express).  I guess I fear going someplace that won't carry my size and then I will feel embarrased.  It's time to go jean shopping.

I completely agree!  Sevens are my favorite and I get a new pair every Christmas.  One thing I have learned is it is most definitely worth spending the extra $$ on a great pair of jeans, than to buy a few cheap pair.  Best of luck in your jean hunt and happy shopping!!!

  • I just bought a new pair from Ann Taylor.  They are amazing.  They are so comfortable.  They have some stretch.  I don't like the rise in my jeans to be so low and these are perfect.  I think I might go back to buy another pair.

What is the difference between Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor loft?

I find myself so confused.  I think I am in the phase that I am realizing I can't just keep wearing the jeans and/or brands I've been wearing since I had a nice body.  But, I also don't want to be the youngest girl in what might seem like an old lady store.  LOL.  I need to find more stores that are age appropriate.

Isn't Ann Taylor loft the cheaper version of Ann Taylor? Kind of like the Gap of Banana Republic. (They're owned by the same company. Old Navy too.)

  • Aw!  Gotcha.  I am so used to shopping at Express for EVERYTHING, I guess I am just losing touch with everything else.

Now I can't wait to go jean shopping!
