puppies?

We are looking to get a puppy.  Maybe a maltese.  Where is a good place in South OC to get a good puppy?

Please consider a rescue. Most responsible breeders will have a wait list and do an interview/home visit as well (ie those who have hips/eyes checked, partipate in bettering the breed through showing & a careful breeding program, and many small breed breeders will have restrictions on adopting a pet to a home with younger children, etc).

https://www.cuddlycanines.com/ (not the rescue I work with but I LOVE these guys and they pretty much specialize in saving pregnant moms from high kill shelters, so they have lots and lots of puppies)

Also remember how much work a young puppy is. I've been a foster mom for a breed-specific rescue now for over 10 years. Puppies are adorable but are a lot of work, not to mention they nip, chase, tug, jump, and pull because it's their nature. I rarely recommend a "young" (under six months) puppy for a family with babies and toddlers because most people are NOT okay with doing the work or the over-the-top supervison.

Thank you! We much rather rescue a dog! What is the name of the one you work with? So we can check out the dogs there too.

I work with GSROC: https://www.gsroc.org but if you were considering a maltese, a German Shepherd may be a bit on the large side. :) We do a lot of exchange back & forth with Cuddly Canines since they bail from the same shelters that we do and if you're looking for a small to medium size dog, I highly, highly recommend them.
