Inheriting a cosleeper, do we need a pack n play?

So I'm getting a cosleeper, and we were going to use it for the first few weeks in the bedroom as a basinett. I don't have it yet, so I really just know that it is a co-sleeper.

We haven't registered for a pac n play, since I thought that we would be able to move and use the co-sleeper if we needed to. Is that reasonable, or do we actually need a pack n play? I know that we will need something portable for when we travel, visit family, etc.

    We have a 2-story house so will be using the co-sleeper upstairs and the pnp downstairs. I wanted both bc we don't have room in our bedroom for a full-size pnp in our bedroom, but will need a pnp for traveling.
