In our walk-in closet is the only access to our attic. We have never been up there or even looked up there in the 7 years that we have lived here.
Last night, I took off my shirt and walked into the closet to put it in the hamper. I looked up and the attic access is open!![]()
I ran downstairs wearing my bra and jeans, because I was freaked out and there was no way I was sticking around long enough to put on a shirt. I asked DH if he had opened it or something when he was upstairs earlier. He said no and goes upstairs to check it out.
He used the broom handle to get it back into place. I told him to poke his head up there to see how it got opened. His answer "In the horror movies, the guy who does that is the one who winds up getting killed."
Yeah, I didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night, and I still have no idea how the d@mn thing got open.

The Chaos of Six!
I wouldn't have slept much last night either!
We have had some weird stuff happening at our house as well lately.
Toys turning on (Hudson was fast asleep in the crib), his door opening on its own in the middle of the night when the heat was not on.
Really random stuff.

Eek! I'm such a scaredy cat. Did anyone else read that post with the video on 12-24 a couple of weeks ago about the ghost?
I had to sleep with the light on until DH got home that night!
If I was home alone, then I probably would have!
It was windy last night, but not nearly as windy as it was last week...
Yes, it has happened to me before too. It has to do with a pressure difference and it pushes open the door.
I was very freaked out when it happened to me!
I'm scared for you!
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!
My favorite money saving tip: I've earned more than $300 in gift cards (Amazon, Starbucks, Southwest!) using SwagBucks for internet searching - and you can too! It's FREE and EASY!
I was going to ask this. It could have been air pressure. Odd it's never happened before but sometimes just e nough pressure over the years could slowly open it till it fully falls open?
We've been having some strange stuff going on here too. I know some of it is me probably being paranoid and my eyes playing tricks on me but they're creepy none the less.
That's the weird thing... The access panel has to be pushed up. It is literally a panel of wood, kind of like the ceiling tiles in office buildings.
ha! I'm afraid of my attic too!!
For a long time I refused to look up at the attic window when I pulled in the driveway, because I was sure I would see someone looking back out.
Years later I learned that it's not an actual window, just a structure to look like a window.
Ya, that would've freaked me out, too!
Danto- That cracks me up...I think I would do the same thing.
Oh that is odd. I'm sure theres some explanation but I'd be freaked out just like you. I make sure my basement door is locked at night because I'm afraid someone can sneak in down there and come out while we're sleeping (I think I've seen too many paranormal investigations of the Liviska or however it's spelled Ax murder house.... ). We have crawlspaces in our room because our bedroom was once the attic. They're little doors in the wall that are held up by strong magnets and them kinda just being stuck. They fall open occasionally and needless to say everytime it happens it scares the crap out of me. Especially when I wake up and one is open so it opened quietly which if you knew the doors is hard to do.
