Dr Alan Cowen?

Has anybody used Comprehensive Women's Healthcare at Baylor Grapevine? I use them for my GYN but I'm wanting  more of a natural childbirth and wonder if they're open to that.... I'm going to call in the morning and make an appointment to 'interview' but wanted tos ee if any of you had any experience with them.

Re: Dr Alan Cowen?

  • I see Dr. Robert in the same practice and Dr. Cowen was the one who discharged me from the hospital. I had a natural birth (unplanned - I wanted the epi, but I arrived in time to push and have a baby in 40 minutes) and Dr. Robert was great to work with. I can't imagine that any doctor in the practice would be against natural childbirth (I've never met Dr. Neal, but I've heard great things about him).

  • Awesome, thanks! I see Barbara for my GYN services but I've seen Dr Cowen previously for a cyst that I had so that's why I was looking at him. I'm just worried about finding an OB that's open to walking around and not having continuous monitoring.

  • I'm also a Dr. Robert patient who was discharged by Dr. Cowen.  He was very mild mannered and soft spoken - I really liked him.  Dr. Robert was very open to discussing all of my options with me (I did NOT want a c-section, which became necessary) - I'd imagine Dr. Cowen would also be open to allowing you the birth you want unless it becomes medically necessary to "change the plan."  I LOVE the practice - although I sometimes feel treated like a "stepchild" for routine things...they treated me like a queen during my pregnancy, birth, and follow ups!

  • Thanks everyone! I have an appointment with them in the am for a sonogram. :)
