Forgive me in advance, because I'm not trying to give unsolicited suggestions, but I know sometimes IF requires thinking outside the box. I saw you mentioned a few things in the DNA frag post. If you're considering DE and DS would a snowflake adoption be less expensive?

I truly don't know, because I haven't gone through either, but I hate when finances are the hang up between wanting to try and being unable to.

Where I live it's impossible, so that may also be a struggle for you on the legal end. Just a thought. I hope this works for you with as little hoop jumping as possible. I know you've been through enough as it is.

Wishing you lots of luck!

Re: ::mtlaurel::

  • I appreciate the suggestion. DEmbryo is my preference, but DH is not on board - yet. We are not 100% decided on another DE cycle, but that's DH's preference right now. I'm not objecting at this point because it would be a discounted cycle and I know it could happen before the end of the year. So, we're exploring "middle" ground, still giving DH's sperm a chance while also having some back-up reassurance for me with DS, during our WTF today... I'm anxious to see if the conversation pushes DH more one way or the other. But, thank you!

    Also butting in! Reb, this is where I had been planning to go for DEmbies. They tend to always have a list of available batches, when I had the list it was about 10 sets of embies available. I have more info on them if you're interested.

  • I hope something works out for you that you're both comfortable with and your WTF gives you some clarity / direction. I know how frustrating and difficult it is to find a middle ground.

    My DH is also wanting to have a bio child, which makes things more of a challenge. Since he's dealing with the heaviness of MFI on top of that I've been taking his lead, but I don't think I can go on with countless IVF cycles myself either. It sure would be nice to think this could work at some point, but alas we're still in the thick of it.

    Unfortunately DEmbryos aren't legal where I am, but we may be moving, so that could throw us yet another curve ball.

    This exactly. It's tough, especially since I know the kind of grieving I went through over loss of genetic connection when we chose to do DE.

    Good luck to you, too.

    Our original clinic has a small program - just from their own patients. Last I checked on it, it would have been about an 8-month wait to match. I think there are several clinic-run programs in addition to agency/Miracles in Waiting type options.
