I was under the impression you only needed to do this when they're teeth came in. So from what I read it said to use a wet washcloth and wipe her gums. Her mouth seems way to tiny to fit my finger in a wash cloth in there without gagging her. Is it too soon for one of those silicone bristle finger things? What are others using for their little babies?
Re: I really hate to admit this but I haven't been cleaning her gums. :/

I'm sure you're supposed to.
But I never did with DD, until she got teeth. And I don't plan on doing it with DS. In all honesty, there are 100 other things that I need to do and wiping his gums aren't on my list. I don't think that makes me a bad mom. I'll brush his teeth when they come in.
This! DD loves having her teeth brushed now.

This exactly.
I am glad to see this post! I have been wiping her tongue and gums like once every other day. But honestly, like PP said, there are so many other things to do, I do not always remember to do it!
My Pedi told us at her 2 week appt to use a wet wash cloth and wipe down her gums, and also she said to try to wipe down her tongue, after she saw the milky white stuff on her tongue. She said not to go so far back as to gag her, but I feel like if I try to wipe her tongue at all I gag her! My pedi said to do the gum and tongue wipe in order to wipe away some of the bacteria.
So I will keep trying to do my best
I didn't do it everyday when my son was this little and he turned out ok.
Um, yeah. I haven't even thought about doing this.
