FWIW jessknell was called out by smitty and flamed for her brand of advertisement. After that, she stopped awing her hats entirely. She still gets lots of bumpie love because she does a great job and has happy customers. I haven't seen her even come close to awing her business in months.

I have nothing against her and even ordered a soaker. But her actions were never called disgusting and she was never reported. And her soliciting went on for months.

I report every advertisers I see because I don't want these boards to become clogged with people selling shiit. That's what it was like when I was on TK & it was superannoying. There was 1 ad for every 3 posts! I don't want to see that here, so I do my own little part.

And, fine, disgusting may have been the wrong word to use, but those kinds of posts really outrage me.

This post boils down to two things: Ablou being a catty biatch who feels compelled to save the bump from becoming a spam. Others running around touting tos, how they aren't wrong because they walk around tos, and how all that poor girl needed to do was build her own clique on here in order to achieve the same exact thing. Ahh, SA. That is the real question.

Why? Because in the original post where she asked permission, the OP didn't state it was for a paper business, just asked about the rules, mentioned it was for free, and for building a portfolio. Once someone was "competing" with SR, then the sticks were automatically inserted and twirled in certain peoples' derrieres. ablou did specifically state she didn't think it was fair that people who "followed the rules" would have business taken away from them.

Except they really aren't following the rules, not if you actually think as to why the rule is there in the first place.

I report the people advertising their businesses, because this is not the place for that. I don't like the "vote for my kid" posts, but no, I don't report those.

I didn't open the original thread, because the title didn't interest me. I saw it once she linked to it in her 2nd thread. If she had said something pertinent to the topic in the title of her OP, then I would have looked at it.

I think there's a big difference between some random company coming on here and advertising the hell out of, I don't know, Pampers, and some random poster starting a relatively harmless thread on a Sunday night.

A gentle gesture towards TOS would be just as helpful as reporting them.

Well yes, but shortyred has the benefit of having been a very popular poster and everyone (generalizing fo course) knows she has that business. So yes, she doesn't technically break any rules, but we're not stupid.

I'd just like to state that I was flamed for what happened. Maybe it wasn't a "proper flaming" because I didn't fight back and add to the drama? I knew it wasn't intelligent and it was a bad idea the second it happened. I never tried to justify it.

I was flamed on TB but, as many of you will point out, not by my "clique." The reason for that is quite simple. They are my friends. They know that is not typical behavior for me. So, instead of flaming me, I was contacted privately by many of them to ask what the hell was up. More than one person made sure to tell me that A) that wasn't OK and ask me if I was doing OK. I wasn't. I'm still not.

That doesn't excuse my behavior, but it's the truth. I'm not OK at all. That day was my emotional breaking point. I've got a lot going on personally that I'm trying to get worked out.

Do I expect all of you to know this? No way. Because I didn't mention it. I confessed my mistake and was flamed publically and privately chastised. Sorry if it wasn't the feast you were looking for, DnD.

It was a perfect example of how people on this board will tear apart someone they don't recognize over something as stupid as advertising, but they're calm, cool, and collected with much more inflammatory posts by their friends. I know you were sorry for what you did, and I wasn't trying to reignite some sort of feast against you. I'm sorry if you took that as a hit against you. It was really a hit against them.

There is a mod board where mods can bring links and complaints to the bump Gods. Thats the purpose of mods: to sort through all the drama and bring the real issues to the bump Gods. They then decide what action to take.
