So just taking a poll.?
1. Do you intended to fully eliminate coffee? I know books say 1 cup is generally ok.
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine?
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer?
Personally I probably go with Decaf and a perhaps a non alcoholic beer every once in a while (Becks N/A are GOOD!!! I drank them while TTC). Just curious how other feel about this??
Re: Thoughts on Coffee and Alcohol
I have never been a big coffee drinker but I enjoy an occasional caramel frappe.. I dont plan to quit as theres not much caffeine in them..
No alcohol for the whole time.. If you want to go non alch.. Go for it..but I cant stand the taste of beer anyway..I like those fruity girly drinks so I mean I could always go virgin if all else fails
1. NO.
2. No.
3. I will drink decaf coffee if I've had a cup of regular already. I wouldn't bother buying non-alcoholic beer. I don't care enough to have it!
Lurking. :]
1. I have one cup of coffee a day.
2. I will have the occasional glass of wine. And I like n/a beer too. Especially since I will be pregnant in the summer when I usually drink beer at cookouts and parties.
1. Do you intended to fully eliminate coffee? I know books say 1 cup is generally ok. I don't do coffee, but I still drink at least one Coke a day. I don't think I would be able to function without it, and my doc said 2 per day is fine.
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine? For right now, I've decided my rule is... none during 1st tri, and only tastings allowed after that. DH and I brew our own beer, and it is hard not being able to give an opinion right now!
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer? No coffee, so that is a non issue.... and to me, N/A beer is not really beer... so... nope.

1. Trying to kick the coffee, but its my crack!!
2. I'm not a big drinker so I don't see a problem with no drinking, but ask me again in a few months.....
3. I will drink decaf for sure.......

1. Do you intended to fully eliminate coffee? I know books say 1 cup is generally ok. I am not very attached to coffee, so I haven't had any problem avoiding it. Other forms of caffeine such as a soda or chocolate will be consumed moderately.
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine? I had maybe a 1/2 of a beer late in my pregnancy with DS. It wasn't even very enjoyable, so I don't forsee myself having an occasional drink until after LO is born.
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer? Nope.

I drink mostly soda, not coffee, and I still have about one coke a day and did with DS as well. My sister's OB told her that decaf coffee is actually more dangerous than caffeinated because of the chemical changes that happen when they decaffeinate it. So I won't be drinking decaf.
I have literally one sip of wine per week for Communion. That's all the alcohol I'll be having.
1) No. But I wasn't a cup-a-day person before, more like an occasional frap or iced latte as a treat. I've cut back on drinking pop significantly, I have maybe a couple glasses a week.
2) I might take sips of things to try them, being a big craft beer buff, but definitely not till later in the pregnancy and I'll probably err on the side of caution even then.
3) When I can I order decaf coffee if I get it. But I don't drink coffee for the caffeine really anyways, so it doesn't bother me. NA beer...eh, maybe. I probably won't bother.

1. Do you intended to fully eliminate coffee? Nope! And by coffee I mean caffeine in general. I stick to not more than one caffeinated drink per day, with some days having none. Since they say some caffeine is okay, I see no need to torture others with my horrible, non-caffeinated attitude.
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine? I don't drink, so no alcohol.
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer? I occasionally drink decaf, but not as a substitute exactly. Some nights DH and I just like a cup of decaf.
1. Do you intended to fully eliminate coffee? I am usually not a coffee drinker, but I see no problem with caffeine during pregnancy in moderation (my dr said 200 mg a day is fine, some even okay 300 mg). I still have soda and chocolate, both have caffeine.
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine? I am not much a drinker to begin with, so no. When I do drink it's usually wine, and it smells funny to me when I'm pregnant so it's easy enough to avoid.
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer? I typically drink decaf on the rare occasion I do drink coffee, and am not a fan of beer so I don't see the point in non-alcoholic.

1. No caffine for me. I drank at least two cups a day and started to get off of it before I got pregnant. It was hard at first but I tried some decaf and got sick so it is really not hard any more.
2. No alcohol. I have not read anything that indicates any amount is not harmfull to the baby and it is not important enough to me to risk it.
3. No
1. I drink a cup of half caff a day
2. No alcohol in 1st tri. I allow myself the rare drink in 2nd or 3rd tri (ie, glass of wine for our wedding anniversary).
3. FYI every non-alcoholic beer I have seen/tried before has trace amounts of alcohol in it, so you are not really abstaining from alcohol by making this choice. You are just significantly decreasing the amount you are consuming. Also, I am fairly certain decaf is similar in that it often has trace amounts of caffeine. Again you are significantly reducing the amount you consume, but I think it is important for people to realize that they are still exposing themselves to the ingredient in question.
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine? No. I can go 9 months without drinking. I don't like wine that much.
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer? No
1. Do you intended to fully eliminate coffee?
I will fully eliminate any coffee that is not decaf, unless it's just a sip here and there after the 1st trimester.
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine?
I won't be drinking any alcohol in the the 1st and 2nd trimesters, and again, only an occasional sip in the 3rd trimester.
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer?
I will use decaf coffee. I don't drink beer at all, so the thought of non-alcoholic isn't appealing, but I would drink it if I liked beer.
1. Do you intended to fully eliminate coffee? I know books say 1 cup is generally ok.
I don't drink coffee, but I do drink pop and I avoid caffeine while pregnant. If I have a headache, I will have some.
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine?
Absolutely not. I do not agree with everything in moderation. They do not know how much alcohol it takes to affect a baby...so I don't see the point in chancing it, as WE KNOW that alcohol can and does affect an unborn baby.
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer?
No. I drink wine, and non alcoholic wine sucks.
1. Do you intended to fully eliminate coffee? I know books say 1 cup is generally ok. I was a big coffee drinker before I got KU but I started getting sick of it and couldn't drink a drop at 4 weeks (before I knew I was PG). After BFP I haven't missed it really, twice I've gotten a decaf but I couldn't even finish.
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine? I don't really miss it, don't plan on drinking anything with alcohol, I can wait. The other night at dinner though my sister had a glass and I just wanted to smell it.
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer? Not regularly.
1. Before I knew I was pregnant, I had a hell of a lot of caffeine, which I'm now feeling very guilty about. I've cut it out all together. Before becoming pregnant, I was drinking between 1-4 diet cokes a day, so the first week without caffeine was tough for me, especially as I've been dragging myself through work exhausted.
2. Nope.
3. Probably not. Even decaf has small amounts of caffeine in it. I won't miss beer enough to need the non-alcoholic stuff.
I am a tea drinker so I just have my morning cup to start my day.
Booze, NO WAY!
Near beer or decaf, what's the point???
1. Do you intended to fully eliminate coffee? I know books say 1 cup is generally ok.
Easy enough for me because I was never a coffee drinker to begin with.
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine?
Possibly a very small glass much later in my pregnancy.
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer?
No.

1. Do you intended to fully eliminate coffee? I know books say 1 cup is generally ok. Yes - I drink maybe two cups a week at work, so I don't think I'll miss it.
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine? No - I very rarely drink, anyway. Not a big fan of the taste.
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer? Nope
DH has given up caffeine in solidarity, but I don't think I'll mind not having any. It's the flavor of Pepsi that I'll miss, though.
1.) I may have decaf once a day. I've steadily weaned myself off caffeine during TTC so I am doing ok with that so far.
2.) I don't drink hardly at all even before I was pregnant. Even if the doctor Ok's the occasional glass later on I will most likely pass. I am just not a drinker really. If someone else wants to do that then that is entirely up to them.
3.) Decaf coffee, but not even going with non-alcoholic beer. No booze for me.
It really is a personal decision and everyone should do what is right for them.
1. Do you intended to fully eliminate coffee? Already did.. although, my dr. said it would take like 3 cups before it reached the baby. But since I had already quit, I will keep it that way. (until I have a newborn and get no sleep, that is)
2. What about alcohol? Do you see yourself having the occasional glass of wine? No. Some dr.s say it is ok.. but as far as I'm concerned, the majority of drs still say there is no possible way to make sure that it will not effect the baby. I am not risking that.
3. Do you intended to use substitutes like decaf and non-alcoholic beer? I have drank a couple cups of decaf along the way, but I don't really want it now. and no I have never even tried na beer, and probably still won't or need to
