Success after IF

If you're one and done...

what's your plan for all of LO's stuff? I am storing so much clothes, but for what??? I sold the Jumperoo and am giving a glider/rocker away to a co-worker today...but there is obviously so much more STUFF. I am rather sentimental, but also not a hoarder. And of course there's this teeny tiny part of me that says, hold on to some stuff jussssst in case.

  • I still haven't been able to part with anything yet. The plan is to sell the good condition things on craig's list and give clothes away to people I know with babies or good will or something. I know I shouldn't have tubs of stuff in my basement just collecting dust but... I am not ready to give it away yet, probably because it reality stings a little.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • I've sold all the things we don't use any more - cosleeper/basinet, bouncer, exersaucer, play mat, etc. - except for the clothes on CL.  I got most of it for cheap or free to start with, so I'm less sentimental about it and more inclined to part with it.  Besides with if there is a jusssst in case scenario, I'd get them for cheap or free again.  The clothes I went through and kept a few favorites.  I just have had less luck unloading them.  Part of me hopes there is someone I can gift them to, but it's unlikely.  I put all the money from the things we sell off in a piggy bank for Gabrielle for the new stuff we get her.

  • I would sell it on CL.  I think the going rate is around $1 a piece.

And then use the $$ to buy something nice for your LO.... that'll make your feel better.

(I'm in jersey too... just in case you are thinking of selling?)

  • We sold the baby baby items and have been giving away  or ebaying the clothing.  I keep  one special outfit per season in a storage tub.  It allows me to really save the special items without hoarding!
  • I haven't parted with a lot of it because DH isn't fully sure we are one and done and there are days I am on the fence about it. Our plan is to wait till 2012, and then have a long conversation about it. If we still are 80% sure we are one and done I think we will sell it: via CL, ebay and consignment shops in our area.

  • Although we have not officially decided (ie, DH has not had a vasectomy) I have gotten rid of clothing to consignment & Craigslist, and only plan on saving sentimental items. The toys we plan to store at my in laws for my BIL when he has kids. Our house is too small anyway-even if we were to have another baby down the road by some miracle, we cannot fit dd's stuff here until then.
  • DH's best friend had a baby girl 10 months after us so we give them all of DD's clothes
