How Screwed Am I?

I didn't register for birth classes in my first tri b/c I thought we were going to do Bradley Classes. Well, we're not now and I'm and scrambling to get into weekend classes at Rex. Honestly, how likely is that at this point?

  • When are you taking them?  I wasn't planning on taking them until January, and they don't even have the schedule posted yet.

  • I don't know about Rex specifically, but I waited to register for our class until about your point and didn't have any trouble getting in.  Is there anywhere else that offers classes?  My OB also offered classes.

  • OB is full and the online form from Rex highlightes registering in your 1st trimester to get in b.c they fill fast. (You take the classes in your 3rd trimester. )

  • I'd call ASAP. I tried to register for one at Rex when I was 20 weeks, and they were all full past my due date. They might be willing to squeeze you in though- they found out I was delivering at UNC so they pretty much just told me to check there.

  • You might want to call around to other hospitals is you can't get in at Rex. I'd start calling ASAP though.
  • Yeah, you'd better call ASAP.  Rex does fill fast.  I waited until I was about 9 or 10 weeks PG to register, and I didn't get in until I was 35 weeks PG.

  • You may be screwed for weekend classes. ?I registered at 7 weeks and my 2 Saturday classes are the end of March, like 3 weeks before delivery. ?You could probably get a night class, but I would call ASAP. ?They fill up really fast.
  • Call ASAP.  I registered at 13 weeks, and my class is at 36 weeks.
  • I didn't register until 18 or 19 weeks ....

I start my classes at 33 weeks and go until 38 weeks .... which is pretty late, but oh well.

And in all complete honesty - I wish we would have saved our money and didn't register at all.

  • I'm probably late on this, but I'd say your screwed for a weekend class. I registered at 8 weeks and they did not have the '09 schedule out yet but there was ALREADY a list. I did get the classes I want. They schedule you for a class about 1 month before your EDD.

  • I tried registering at Rex at 24 weeks and they were full past my EDD.  I ended up taking classes through Carolina Childbirth Classes.

  • HOLY SHIT I'm registering today.
  • I would def say you're screwed for the weekend classes...those fill up first b/c they're most in demand. You might be able to get a weeknight class. I would def call ASAP...the Rex classes really fill up fast!
