So we found out on Valentine's Day that we are having a baby boy. We are so thrilled!
We are set on the name Kylan Patrick, but are worried about how hard it might be for some to pronounce Kylan. When we googled this name last night DH came across a website where people that have this name gave feedback on it- several of them said it is too hard for others to pronounce and it gets frustrating for them. It seems pretty self explanatory to me, but am wondering how others interpret it.
QUESTION- how would you pronounce Kylan?
Re: It's a boy! We have a name! Pronunciation?
as its spelled
kai-lan- Kylan
I don't think its hard
Congrats on being team blue!!
Here is how I would pronounce it:
Kye (rhymes with sky)- Lynn
ky (ryhmes with sky) lyn
This.
Kai- lan
But if I look twice at it, I almost want to pronounce it like you would Dylan- so "Kill-lan", but that sounds wrong.
I would pronounce it this way.
Ky (like sky) lan (like pan).
BTW, what was the name of the website you were looking at. I found a baby name website like that and I can't find it again!
Ditto on all of the above!
this! I really like it
Kylan is my brother in laws name. He has more people mistake it for Kai-land, then Kai-lynn after he introduces himself. I really like the name, he also goes by Kai, and Kyle. (:
p.s. congrats on team blue!

Ok so I am not crazy! Yes it is pronounced Ky (like sky)-Lynn. I guess a lot of people say Kay-Lynn. I think with names getting more and more unique, people are learning to catch on a little more to different names.
Our last name is Minzel- pronounced Minzelle- I get Min-zul all the time, but I can see why people pronounce it that way. When my DH's family migrated to the US they changed the way it was originally spelt (Minzelle) to look more American. So I was worried that baby Kylan Patrick Minzel would later hate us for a complicated name.
KY-lun
The "lun" could also be a "lin" sound, but the emphasis is on the first syllable, so I just kind of gloss over the second one really quickly.
I could also see it being pronounced "KILL-in" because it's one letter different from Dylan.
Kie (like Tie) - lan (like plan)
Kylan sounds (to me) like Thailand.
