I want Seseme Chicken with white rice, but a few things online said it's not good to have. By no means do I think it has any nutritional value, but is it safe to have in first tri?
I don't think it's that crazy. Chinese food is full of MSG, which I try to avoid, especially while pregnant. that said, I had Chinese 2 nights ago, but I do try to limit it while pregnant.

This made me laugh!!! Okay, so now that I think about it...this might have been a flame worthy question! LOL! I read that the MSG was bad to have, and I wasn't sure so I just figured I would throw it out there! Seseme Chicken HERE I COME!!!

From what I hear most chinese food places no longer use MSG in their cooking because of allergies, etc. I know a couple people allergic to MSG! I ordered chinese a couple weeks ago and specifically asked if they used MSG in their food and was told No. So I made sure to say I was allergic too (which I'm not) but can never be too careful! So yes, you can ask if they use it, and also for it not to be added to your food if they do!
I'm Chinese...not sure if i should be insulted by this question or not....
if you're going to a nice restaurant, msg is typically not something to worry about as many many places have regulations now against using it. now if you're going to a food court in the mall, i can't help you there..

Like I said...I know this might have been somewhat flame worthy, but I didn't think it was that stupid of a question. There are so many ridiculous things that we're not supposed to eat, I figured I would just ask about the MSG thing. No big deal. I've seen much more ridiculous questions on this board.

sadly, some people don't go to nice chinese restaurants. there is more to chinese food than panda express.
Just as a point of reference... American Chinese food is not the same as food that people in China eat. It's an Americanized version. Which pretty much means we've taken a good thing and made it bad for you.

not all of us consider LeeAnn Chin to be real Chinese.
I live in MN and can find authentic Chinese food. I'm fairly certain most others can as well.

I'm sure you're fine. I'm still eating my weekly sushi. People spazz so much over what to do or not. Seriously, if pregnancy were that restrictive, the human race would have died out. Use common sense; if it made you sick before pregnancy, don't eat it. Otherwise, you're probably fine.

You can eat MSG while pregnant so long as it doesn't bother you when you're NOT pregnant.
People in China, Japan, Vietnam, etc. use MSG to add flavor and umami to their food and don't necessarily stop when pregnant, if that makes you feel better.

If this was a problem would China be the most populated country on the planet? Probably not. (queue OMG, MSG! responses...)

To clarify, I was agreeing with the quote. The how is this a question is directed at the original poster's question of "can I eat Chinese food."
