It seems that way... although it was nothing special, I saved up my own money working at the public library and bought it the summer before senior year so I could drive to school. I thought I was super sweet in my Chevy Lumina.

My creative writing students are always like, "Why are all of these writers alcoholics who are married a zillion times?" And I'm like, "Uh...that's what makes them writers."
In grad school for creative writing, at our first seminar, the faculty panel told us not to be surprised if we came to grad school married to one person and graduated married to another person. I didn't leave married to someone else, but I did leave divorced. What kind of poet stays married to a math professor?
