Can't leave sleeping babies lie (or is it lay)

Tim and I always go in and check on Michael before we go to bed.  He sleeps so sound that he does not wake up.  Last night he was at the foot of the crib (I have one end elevated due to all his congestion), sideways in the bed, one leg up on the bumper guard (padded bumpers, bad mommy) and half leaning on the stuffed animals lined up at the end of the bed for play time when he wakes up in the morning (bad mommy again).  Tim decided that he looked "uncomfortable" and wanted to move him.  He was sound asleep!!!???  So he moved him and, of course, woke him up.  He did cuddle with him and calm him down to go back to sleep.  I think he did it on purpose because he did not have cuddle time before he went to sleep at 7:30.

  • Not me! I have no problem leaving my sleeping baby alone. I make sure I give her tons of kisses during the day because there is no way in hell that I am kissing her goodnight once she is already asleep. I will open her door so gingerly to turn down her noise machine, but I dare not even look her way. I am terrified of waking her. I make my DH nuts because I make him be ridiculously quiet walking by her door. I actually tip toe on the hardwood floors.

  • What is it with guys and sleeping babies?

We hadn't had dinner yet, but Margaux was practically falling-over tired so I let her go to sleep early.  I finish making dinner, and Rom asks if he should wake Margaux, and I say noooooo.  He does it anyway and brings her out.

    Sigh.

She cried and cried, and it took about a half-hour to calm her back down so she could fall back asleep.  By then, dinner was cold.  DO NOT WAKE A SLEEPING BABY!

  • I moved M once when he was twisted up during a nap and learned my lesson.
  • Am I the only lucky mom who's kid can be rearranged like crazy and barely wakes up?  And if he does, he just stares sleepily, maybe cries a little bit and goes right back to sleep.

    I just jinxed myself.

  • Adrian is hard to wake up once he's down for the night, but I will also adjust him if his foot is sticking out of the crib or his stuffed animals are under him. Or if his blanket is off of him. Don't feel bad, I also have bumpers, blankets and stuffed animals in A's bed. It's OK at his age.

  • Awwwww... Daddy wanted cuddles. Very cute! Big Smile

My thing with DH has always been... If you wake her, you put her back to sleep.

  • Tim is such a softy. What a big teddy bear.

There is a rule in this house: NEVER, EVER, WAKE A SLEEPING BABY.

  • Tom only woke Sarah once, when she was a couple of weeks old and he thought it would be fun to 'play'. Never again and he learned his lesson.

We never go in after she is asleep, we check on the video monitor. It's so nice to see her sleep in all sorts of positions, usually with her butt up in the air. Makes me want to go to sleep too.
