I posted this in the OBX post but wasn't sure if you will check back.  I copied my post below after yours....

Ocracoke is where my dad's side of the family is originally from. If you travel around you will see lot's of O'Neal's stuff (O'Neal dockside and the such)...thats my family. =) 

Do you know David O'Neal?

ETA: My Dad was in the Coast Guard and we were stationed in Buxton from '83-'86.  David was in the CG at the time and my parents became good friends with them.  We visited them the last time we went there (about 3 years ago).

    It is quite possibly my father knows of him. We have a lot of family that lives down there...most of which, unfortunately, I am not familiar with or close to. I know that my family owns O'Neal's Dockside (tackle shop) and I also have family who owns an RV park down there. I will ask my dad later today if he knows David O'Neal and get back to ya.

    It's no big deal - I just saw O'Neal and thought - I know some O'Neals :)  David owns a decoy shop in Ocracoke.  Very cool that you have family there!
