What will you do when you are finished having kids? Tubal ligation? IUD? pull and pray Stick out tongue ?

I am pretty sure we are finished having kids, but for some reason I feel resistant to any permanent bc method. I always worry about the 'what if'. DH has said he is willing to get the snip, but we are still young. I don't want him to regret it later. DO you have any idea what you will do when you are finished?

As of right now, I plan to have a tubal ligation during my next c-section (if I don't do a VBAC, which I'm open to considering). We know we definitely don't want any more than two kids.

DH is getting a vasectomy. If he was not getting a vasectomy I would probably look into Essure or just get an IUD.

DH is getting snipped. We are older (34), so once we make our final decision, we're confident that nothing would change even if something happened and one of us ever remarried in the future.

I'm tired of being on hormones and am getting my IUD removed. For now, we're going to chart to avoid. If we decide to have a 3rd, I would probably get my tubes tied during my next c/s but I stil need to look into the pros/cons. Otherwise, either DH would have a vasectomy or I would continue charting to avoid. I really don't want to go back on hormones anymore; I suppose I could also try the hormone free IUD if I don't want to keep with charting.

My very tenative plan is to use a diaphragm for awhile after the next baby, assuming that there is a next baby. If we decide we're done, at some point DH will have a vasectomy. I kind of imagine him getting a V when our youngest is 2 or 3 years old.

I have Mirena and when it's time to remove (for a 3rd or b/c it's been 5 years) DH will get a vasectomy. I didn't like the idea of having my tubes tied during my last c-section. Seemed almost too permanent since we weren't 110% sure we were done. Now I'm probably 98% sure we're done, but still like having the option.

I agree with luckygirl! I'm 31, so I don't think 34 is old either!

I once asked DH if he'd be open to considering a vasectomy once we decided we were done having kids. He said, "Not only am I open to it, I fully intend to schedule it!"

I agree with luckygirl! I'm 31, so I don't think 34 is old either!

Haha! Thanks! I don't think I'm old, but for TTC purposes, I've always intended to be done by 35, so I really feel like even if weird circumstances changed later in life, I'd still be fine being done and wouldn't want to restart a family closer to 40 or whatever!

I have an IUD now and while I am happy with it, once we are done, I don't want to have any more hormones.... So it has already been decided, DH will get snipped.
