  I'd pronounce it like you would. 

  I love both names, but DD is Sophia so I'm partial to that choice.

  I have only known one person with that name.  She pronounced it Lee-la.  She is Polish though, dont know if that makes a difference.

  It can be Lye-la or Lee-la, when I first saw it I thought Lee-la.

  Lila is intuitively pronounced. In the English language, there is no other way you would logically pronounce the name. Also, it's gaining in popularity by leaps and bounds. Most everyone knows how to pronounce it.

  Is your husband's coworker from another country, or has a first language other than English? That might be why he/she suggested an alternate pronunciation.

  In the States, though, you really don't need to be concerned about that at all.

  I instinctively pronounce it "Lie-luh" but I do know someone who pronounces it Lee-luh.

  most will pronounce it Lie-la. I've never heard it pronounced any other way.
  

  I like both Lila and Sophia, however Sophia is the #4 baby girl name in the country.. and that scares me. if I were you I'd go with Lila. but both are so pretty.

  I pronounce it Lie-lah.  Hate Lee-lah. So much so that I would consider spelling it Lyla. But Lila just looks so much prettier I think. That is my top favorite name for a girl!
