Just had my anatomy scan this past Thursday and found out he is FOR SURE a boy! (Doc gave us a guess early on, but we were waiting for the 100%) Anyways, we chose our name. His name will be Maddox Joseph LN. (Last name is one syllable and rhymes with "Live".) Anyways, his father likes "Madox" better than with two d's. I tried to explain to him that Maddox is generally spelled with two d's, and we will spend our lives introducing him as "Maddox-with-one-d". It could be worse, I guess, but I think sticking to the original spelling is better. Thoughts?
Speaking as someone who has had to correct people on the spelling and the pronunciation of her name for her entire life, I say go with the most common spelling, Maddox. Dude, I hate the spelling of my name and have seriously thought of having it legally changed.
are a big angelina jolie fan or something? if you must use this celebrity baby name, definitely go with 2 Ds.
It was a name long before she used it. I like Knox and may use it for boy. Not because of her but because I like it and I went to UT.
I'm also sure there are people out there that have used the name Maddox WAY before Angelina Jolie used it! Sucks that if you happen to love a name that a celebrity used, then you obviously must be a fan & want to copy them
I've thought of using Knox way before she came out with that name, because my sis lives in town called Knox & have thought that would be a great name for a boy.
Hardly anyone gave Maddox a first look prior to the celebrity baby...that doesn't mean that it's because of them specifically, but the name has gotten a lot more attention because of them and it's taken off on it's own. It's like the people who knew about the name Hermione before Harry Potter. It's rare, but they do exist.
I don't know why there's any argument on the spelling. It's spelled, Maddox. Madox isn't even a variation or a spelling...it's a misspelling. Madoc is the original form of Maddox, and I could see using that, but otherwise, please convince your guy that using a cre8iv spelling is a pain in the @ss for all involved.

Get over yourself. It's not like she wants to name her kid Apple or something.
Yes. Madox rhymes with Maalox.

Heyyyyyy that was my choice if he was a she!

Two 'd's, for sure-
Technically, if you spell it "Madox", the pronunciation would be MAY-ducks.
The double "d" changes the beginging to "MAh-ducks".
Double Ds all the way!
One D changes the pronounciation. Madox = May-Dox which sounds like some kind of household solvent or something. Ignore FIL.
