no baby showing only sac

i got my first ultrasound yesterday. they estimated me to be six weeks and we didn't see the baby we only saw the sac.. the dr said i may just be a week behind that we estimated.. or only the sac formed and no baby... is this common or should i worry?

My guess is you're just further behind than what you thought. Don't sit there and worry about it.

I had an ultrasound at 5w3d (I think) - they could only see a gestational sac & yolk sac. I'm going back at 6w1d to try and see more (heading out to Dominican Republic at 6w3d) - but my doctor warned me that they still might not be able to see whether or not this is a viable pregnancy.

*Try* not to worry about it (yes, I know...easier said than done)

Don't stress too much about it. I had an early U/S with my girls at 5.5 weeks and one had a heartbeat and one did not. It scared me so badly for a whole week. At 6.5 weeks both girls had a very strong heart beat. After talking with the reproductive U/S tech recently we have figured out my fraternal twins were actually concieved a few days apart. Weird but that happens alot with fraternals!!!!

My first u/s, they measured me at 5 weeks 3 days, and all they could see was a sac--nothing in it. Exactly a week later, they were able to see the baby, clear as day, which measured at 7 weeks. Sometimes they're just hiding in there. It's easier said than done (trust me--I completely freaked out and cried myself to sleep the night of my first u/s), but try not to worry too much. You're still really early, and sometimes things just don't show up right away.

Same thing happened to me, and I went back two weeks later-they found baby and heartbeat of 170 measuring 8W6D. So I even jumped ahead a week. Easier said than done, but try not to worry-wait and see what happens at the next appointment. Hope everything works out fine for you!

It could be common if you ovulated later than you thought. At 6 weeks, your doctor should have been able to detect a heartbeat dependong on the equipment he/she has in the office.

This pregnancy, a heartbeat was detected at 5 weeks 6 days. I heard the heartbeat at 6 days with my first pregnancy and with my second.

I had an u/s this week (week 5) and all the saw was the sac. I go back for another u/s next week, but the doctor warned that they still may not be able to see much. I think what you saw was perfectly normal. Be thankful you saw a sac-baby can only grow, and grow, from here!

Hi, this may be long, but bear w/ me.. I am hoping to offer you re-assurance..

I was 6 weeks along based on my LMP (I didn't chart or do OPK's) I started spotting, had levels done that did not double every 48 hrs--so I had an US at that time---US showed I was only 4w1d--only saw sac and yolk sac

forward to one week later--so I am now 7w based on LMP--have a f/u US-and voila, I am now measuring 6w1d and saw the heartbeat..

My OB said that early on, something it isn't always on track but then catches up.

on a side note, I started spotting again last night--gone now--Phew--luckily I have a F/U on Wednesday....
