Car Seats?

I'm helping my sister shop for a not-too-expensive-please convertible carseat for her baby girl -- mine aren't ready to hand down yet!  She wants cheaper than my Britax, so I'm not much help with personal anecdotes.

I used to have all my websites bookmarked, but apparently that was on the old computer.

SO, do you know where I can find the current info on the ratings of car seats and relative price?    Or recommend your favorite cheaper-than-Britax but great-safety-ratings convertible car seat?

Re: Car Seats?

  • I love our Evenflo Triumph Advance.  I got it from Walmart for about $100.  We have one in my H's car and I have the Britax Marathon in my car.  I prefer the Evenflo.  I also think my DS has a lot more room in the Evenflo right now than the Britax (we still have him RF'ing).

  • I got a Recaro (I can never remember if it is Signo or Como) on super sale and DD likes it better than our Britax and has more room in it also.  I think it had higher safety ratings than the Blvd.
  • I was very happy with the Graco we had with Abby (comfort Sport?). I will say it was on the small size.  We moved her out of it around 3 and into the Graco Nautilus (which I LOVE, but it does not RF). She still fit fine at that point, but the Nautilus was a much better fit at that point.  J is in a Recaro because I got one for cheap on Woot.

    this exactly

  • Hee.  I just went to Consumer Reports on my computer - which is my dad's old computer.  Apparently  he has a subscription to CR because it popped up with his sign-in info when I went to see their ratings.

And yes, I did sign in with his info and check it out!

Thanks for all the info -- forwarding on to my sis.  She's thinking of turning in my older-than-5-years infant seat to BRU for the 25% discount since they're doing one of those trade-in events.
