How long are LO's in shoe sizes?

How long do they stay, on average, in a particular size? I saw a sale on the girls' current sizes (5 and 5.5) but was wondering if it's worth it to buy multiple pairs if they're only going to grow out of them soon...

    My boys have been in the same size shoes for at least a few months...they wear shoes throughout most of the day so they are being used.  They would sometimes walk on their tip-toe so to discourage that my Dr. suggested them wearing shoes around the house.

    it's kind on an impossible question. it depends on growth spurts. they could be in a size 3 weeks, or 3 months, or even skip a size completely. there is just no way to tell.

    The twins were in the same size for about 1-2 months, we just changed their sizes.  DS1 wore his first pair of shoes for probably a good 4m.
