BFing supply issues

Can someone give me detailed how-to instructions about power pumping? How often should I be doing this to increase supply? I'm taking blessed thistle and fenugreek. My 2nd PP af should be here any day and my supply went from pumping 5+ to 3-4oz. I am also stressing about the supply issue which is not helping the situation.

  • I don't know about power pumping, but check out kellymom.com, I am sure there is information up there.  I would also guess that after your period starts, your supply will rebound.

  • It is normal for your supply to momentarily dip with AF.  It'll come back after, too.  I never tried power pumping, but I did find that spending more time with DD and simply nursing did the best to bring back my supply.  I also found that irregardless of blessed thistle/fenugreek/mother's milk tea/etc. etc. that simply drinking lots of liquids did a lot.  I discovered this when I caught a cold and was downing hot tea like there was no tomorrow.  GL!

  • Flax seed meal and brewer's yeast worked great for me, in addition to fenugreek and blessed thistle. 

    If you don't smell like maple syrup, you aren't taking enough fenugreek, according to the experts.  I think I was up to  4 caps 3 times a day.

    Add some flax seed meal and brewer's yeast to your diet...that will help.

    Hang in there!! Bfding is really hard but sometimes we ourselves make it harder.

    and ditto on the nursing often/increased liquids.....I found the best thing that worked for me was when I ate like a pig (increasing calories), drank lots of water and nursed forever!!!
