Forgive me if this a dumb question.
I had a yearly at the OB in April. I thought the RE had done a Pap in August, so when I went to my first OB appt I was spotting and still on Crinone. They said they would just use the results from the OB or perform a Pap smear when I was done with the Crinone (this was 2 weeks ago). I have a SCH and am still spotting (at times heavy).
I would like to ask that they not perform the Pap until the SCH has cleared up. I'm seeing a high risk OB e/o week in addition to my OB and so the SCH is being monitored by both (u/s only at the Peri).
So, can I decline it for a few more weeks?
I just **know** it will cause more spotting. Activity causes me to spot more. Lifting causes me to BLEED. If sex is out of the question (per both Dr's) can we hold off on the Pap?
Is there any special reason to have a pap right now?
TIA
Re: Purpose of a Pap in pregnancy?
I had to have one done during pregnancy because of all things they lost the record of me having one just two weeks prior to my positive cycle. It did not cause bleeding, but I also asked to hold off until the 2nd tri which they obliged.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I had my annual appt in July (complete with pap) and got pregnant at the end of October. I switched OBs and they didn't have my records, but I told them that I had done he pap and had gotten normal results. My insurance wouldn't pay for 2 in the same year, so I declined it. I don't think they ever got the records but it wasn't a huge deal.
I preferred them messing around in there as little as possible when I was pregnant!! I say you have a good reason to decline the pap at this point!
