I always find other people's pet peeves to be really entertaining AND alot of times it brings to light some of the annoying things I do myself. I have a bunch, but at the moment I have one front runner.
When someone comes up to me to ask a question and they just blurt out: "Question...." and kinda stare at me blankly until I say "yesss....". It annoys the crap out of me. Whatever happened to "Hey Jill, when you get a second I have a question for you.". 2 years ago a new Manager started here and she started the trend, now about 5 people in my office do the same thing.
Although I love "The Office", it reminds me of Dwight Schrute. Funny on tv, not in real life.
Re: GTKY - Pet Peeves
I hate when complete strangers touch me when talking to me. It happens every day at work.
ETA one more! I hate when people call me at the hardware store and ask for phone numbers of locals. Yes, they actually expect me to look up multiple phone numbers for them. WTH?!

People who park in the fire lanes at stores.
People who don't hold the door, knowing you are right behind them.
People who are leaving a store, SEE that you are about to open the door to go in, and then try to rush thru the door you were opening for yourself. Is there soemthing wrong with the other functional door, or do I have DOORMAN stamped on my forehead.
I totally agree with this.
I have so many pet peeves, I can't keep track of them.
I hate it when people don't shut drawers, cabinets and such all the way. I cannot stand common spelling errors. (to/too/two, their/there/they're). I hate when people are late to work everyday. Seriously, leave 5 minutes earlier and you will be on time! I could go on and on and on...
OMG Hilarious! One of my fav Office moments

I hate when people say, "Ok, see ya later! Love ya!"
I don't love you. I have to work with you, and if I had a choice, I wouldn't work with you at all. I will not respond to this with anything but: "Yeah, see you tomorrow."
Maybe I'm a ***, but I hate that soooooo much. Oh, and people telling me I wont have any sleep when I have this baby. This is the most over-said thing of all time.
haha YES!!! Appreciated that.
For sure!! I have a panic attack if I am running late for anything! I Hate it!
Also, bad drivers, rude people, and snobs.
Also, at the self check out lane in the grocery store, if I am there with only DS, just got done putting my $ in and have 2 things in a bag do NOT start scanning your crap until I at least have enough room to put up the divider. If looks could kill some of those people would be on the floor.
Hahahahaha!!!! Oh man, that's a good one.
I hate when people don't use their turn signal.
Or when people say "nuc-ya-lar" instead of "nuc-le-ar." (I'm talking to you, George W.!)
Also, when people turn little things into a crisis. It doesn't bother me on the bump so much, because I think it's normal to worry about pregnancy things. But, for example, my mom will order a Coke at a restaurant, and they'll bring her a Diet Coke instead on accident, and it's like this huge deal. Except that it's not. Just tell your server and they'll fix it.
I could go on, but I don't want to seem like the b!tchy girl that gets irritated over everything.
Amen! I just told everyone and I am already so sick of hearing this. I think people say crap just to say it half the time
Oooh yeah, this is a big one for me too. Personal space, people! Personal space!
I have lots, but I'll try to not go too crazy here...
Okay, I better stop before y'all think I'm some crazy woman. Why can't everyone just be perfect like me??
ETA: Okay, here's another one...why does the bump give us the option to use bullet points if they don't even work?!
Person- "Hey, let me ax you somethin."
Me- "No."
I think my biggest pet peeve are bad drivers. They really just make my skin crawl! So much so I actually wrote a whole blog entry about it. lol
EDT: I also can't stand it when DH folds the towels wrong after they have been washed. I don't know why it bugs me so much but I'm always refolding the linen closet!
OMG so many. So so so many.
I have a lot of pet peeves when it comes to how people eat. I don't like when people:
Chew with their mouth open
Hit silverware against their teeth
Gulp whatever they're drinking
Talk with their mouth full
Breathe excessively through their nose while eating
Slurp food
Smack their lips
Lick their fingers after eating
I really could go on and on. It's bad. I really cannot stand to eat around other people.
I also get really stabby when someone walks in front of me but really slowly. And it's almost always when you're not able to get around them in anyway.
People who don't use their blinker.
People who reply all on emails.
People who don't give a little courtesy wave when you let them over in traffic.
People who talk on their cell phone in the check out line.
Ooh one more. I work for a property management company in SWFL so almost all the homeowners of the condo's we manage have them as second homes. For some reason whenever they call from out of state that is the first thing they announce.
"Hello, I am calling from ILLINOIS/NEW YORK/INSERT ANY OTHER STATE!"
Well that is very nice that you live in another state but you don't get VIP treatment. Especially since nowadays people don't really have long distance phone plans and everyone's minutes have the same value.
I can't stand when people have lights on in the house during the day or after leaving the room. Our house if bright and sunny and DH will have the living room light on while sitting in the sun shining in on his chair. He also leaves the basement lights on, the bathroom lights on, the interior garage lights on, his office light, and he's been nowhere near those rooms for hours. Then he b!tches about the electric bill being higher than normal. Turn out a freaking like jackass!
I hate when DH is deployed and people say they can't imagine how hard going through a deployment must be. It's a part of our life, can't you see I'm doing fine? Leave me the eff alone.
Ooh, I suddenly found some pent up rage.
I also have approximately a million pet peeves. No joke.
One of the worst is poor grammar and spelling. Especially when it's in professional documents at work. I work with a couple of veterinarians and a whole slew of engineers ( I work at my state's environmental agency) that can't seem to grasp the difference between it's/its, your/you're, there/their/they're, and to/too, among other simple things. Along the same lines, misplaced quotation marks drive me crazy.
My other biggest thing is just a lack of civility in society as a whole. It's everywhere, and it drives me nuts. I just don't understand people who are rude and lack respect for everyone around them, especially to service people like cashiers or waitstaff. Really? Those are people trying to do their job, just like you do, folks. Give it a rest, you're no better than anyone else. Ooh, or when they're driving - just because you're in your car, and I'm in mine, that doesn't give you license to be an a**hole. If someone is desperately trying to merge, let them in. If someone lets you in, wave to thank them. It's not that hard to just be nice.
I hate it when I say "hi, how are you?" to someone, and they completely ignore it and start talking about whatever they want to talk about. I even hate it when I hear that happen - like, if I'm in line behind someone at, say, Dunkin Donuts, and the cashier says "hi, how are you?" to the person, and they just respond with "I'll have a large decaf, please." Would it kill you to listen and respond like a civil human being? And FFS, get off your damn cell phone when you're interacting with other live human beings.
/rant. I could go on all day.
I have alot of pet peeves locked up inside of me too, but.....the biggest one....
People who know everything about everything and are willing to argue with people like an idiot when they are wrong. Just admit it, you were not right it is OK. I do it all the time. Acting like you are more intelligent than others is a great way to make enemies. Learn how to be humble.
I think I have too many to mention! I think alot mentioned by pp's are certainly on my list. One I don't think I saw mentioned:
People who say "like" every other word that comes out of their mouth.
I am SO with you on this one! Although the pet peeves I listed are probably more annoying. Yup, definitely worse than yours.
Oh, this is a good one! Unfortunately, I'm willing to bet it will happen even more with a pregnant belly....!
I'm a huge grammar nerd. When people use double negatives or subjects and verbs that don't agree, it drives me nuts! I also have no patience for the homophone mess ups of there/their/they're, two/too/to, etc. I'm sure it's the teacher coming out in me, but come on people!
I have no tolerance for negative people. Someone else mentioned negative people at their work, and I have to agree with that hands down. You're miserable and don't like your job----I get it. No need to take us down with you. Keep it to yourself! It especially bugs me because it's teachers---the kids pick up on that negativity too. Not cool.
Cigarette smoking is on my list too. The smell of it makes me want to vomit. Most of DH's family smokes and it drives me crazy. I hate when my clothes and things smell like an ash tray. I can only imagine the drama this is going to cause once the babies are here....
I HATE when people drive slow in the fast lane. Even going the speed limit, to me, is slow when you're in the fast lane. Would it kill you to switch lanes? To let me pass you like I want to?
I hate when people don't use turning signals. I mean do you think I can read your mind or I have your car bugged and I know why you are randomly slowing down in the middle of traffic? No, I can't! Be courteous to other drivers!!
I have a lot of road rage lol
www.homeofthehonakers.blogspot.com
Hahahaha, I love this.
BFP 1/22/12 | Ectopic pregnancy found 2/14/12 | Methotrexate to complete m/c 2/15/12
lolz.
I have two major ones!
1) I am a teacher. Yes, I love my job, but it is stressful and overwelming a lot of the time. I hate the comments, well "I don't want to hear about it, you work from 8-3 and get a week off a week at Thanksgiving, two weeks at Christmas, a week in the Spring, and 3 months off during the summer! I would love to do that!" I rarely leave at 3 and sometimes I am there before 7. I work about 4 weeks during the summer (unpaid). Most teachers I know do this!
2.) I hate those Bluetooth ear pieces. I know they are very useful in the car, but when you constantly wear them, you look STUPID! It looks like you are talking to yourself. Plus, I get confused. Are you talking to me or are you talking on the phone?
I hate when people either A) tell you your complaints about your life are invalid because you have the easiest job ever or
act as if they have the hardest job ever (SAHMs are the worst offenders in this case).
It annoys me when people make it a point to mention that what they're eating is low fat, whole wheat, or otherwise extra healthy versions of whatever. I feel like they're trying to impress me with their healthiness, and I really just don't care.
ETA: Oh! Oh! One more. I could just puke on people who complain about not having m/s.
I work at a Head Start Admin office and people call EVERY DAY asking for phone numbers. It's one thing when it is for one of our programs or centers, but people have been calling for phone numbers that are totally unrelated, like the hospital, post office, etc. I am NOT the operator or 411.
Also, I HATE it when people call for a phone number and then when I start to give it to them they say "wait, I need to get a pen." Really? YOU called ME!!!
