Babies: 6 - 9 Months

When did your LO sit up unassisted?

I'm not quite over on this board yet but wanted to know when your LO sat up by themselves unassisted? I apologize if this is asked every day- I'm sure it is but I looked back and didn't see anything about sitting up. Thanks.

  • My LO was about 6 months old when he was sitting unassisted.

  • He was pretty good at it by 5.5-6 months

  • DD started at 4.5 months, but wasn't good at it until she was about 5.5 months.
  • 6.5 months and by 7.5 months she could sit unassisted for 15-30 minutes no problem!

  • DS could sit a teeny bit around 5.5 months (for about 5 - 10 sec).  Then one day I sat him down on the playmat at daycare thinking he would topple over any second now, but he didn't!  And I kept watching... and he kept sitting.  That was last Tuesday and he turned 6 months on Saturday.  It's like it happened overnight.  Now he can sit for at least 20-30 minutes without falling over.  Sometimes longer.

  • 6 1/2 months.  Couldn't do it at all and then BOOM one day he could sit all day!
  • Between 6 and 7 months. She wanted to be on her stomach instead! She was creeping before she was able to sit.

Aww!  Thanks!  I think so too!  Wink

  • About 5 months he could sit unassisted, but it was like tri-pod style sitting, very hunched over.  He liked it, but eventually learned to fling his feet out from under him to be on his belly,t hen he could roll to his back.

Then at 6 months 3 weeks, I plopped him on his bum, expecting him to fling his legs and roll onto his back, and he sat, and sat, and sat, and could sit all friggen day.

  • Right at 5 months old she started sitting unassisted for over a minute, so that's when I marked it on the calendar.

  • If you mean sitting w/ out support when placed that way, 5 months. But he just mastered it where he doesn't fall over hardly ever.

  • She really just perfected her sitting within the last two weeks or so, it was like an overnight sort of change
