My pedi recommended cetaphil bath wash and lotion. I don't really care for the bath wash, because it doesn't really foam up any, but that's really my only complaint. I use the lotion on her everyday and it seems to help. Also, pedi told me to bathe her every 3rd day instead of every other, because it makes her eczema worse if we bathe her more
We use a bar soap from a catalog called melaleuca Gold Bar... my sister swore by it for her kids and since Isaiah was born he had the worst eczema. his skin has never been this nice!

Thanks! I already use the lotion but not Cetaphil wash so I will pick some up. I go every other day b/w baths and it still flares up, especially if he gets warm or sweats when playing outside. Such a frustrating thing for a LO to have
how bad is the eczema? What parts of his body does it show up? have you considered he's allergic to something? if the eczema is pretty bad than that may be an allergic reaction. My son had terrible eczema as a baby. we used prescription creams that covered it up from time to time and tried every bath in the world. At 8 months old we found out he has major allergies.
Our DS has very bad excema, as well. Everything causes breakouts. We've tried it all since he was an infant- you name it. The only soap that works for him is Cetaphil bar soap. Ironically, the cetaphil lotion causes breakouts so the only lotion we are able to use is Aquafor.

it can also be your detergent or his soap.
This. DD had horrible eczema and we eventually went in for allergy testing. Turns out she's allergic to everything. We pretty much had to change how we did everything.
We use dove for sensitive skin and it works great. He's having an outbreak right now, so we are using aquafor for moisture. Typically, we use Aveen moisture therapy or something like that for moisture. You didn't ask about that, but I thought I'd tell you.

I am a lurker (obviously), but my son had excema really bad since birth. We would lather him in Eucerin, and use special Cortizone creams on the trouble spots. Then my sister-in-law (who's a nurse) recommended we put bleach in his baths. After doing this for about a week, the excema started clearing up. It's been so much better ever since, and he's so much happier! We use about a capful to tablespoon in his bath, and then after bath, I put the Eucerin all over. I told my doctor we started doing this, and now she tells her other patients about this method. Good luck!
Re: Good bath wash for excema?
We use aveeno baby bath wash and then the creamy moisturizing aveenlo lotion. Then we put aquaphor on trouble spots. Works pretty well.
