So my little girl is almost six weeks, and is falling into a bit of a routine napping schedule (at least in the morning). The problem is she really only naps for long streches when I'm holding her and/or napping with her. I'd really like to get her to nap in her crib, but every time I put her in there she sleeps for about 10 minutes and then wakes up. She'll go back to sleep with a paci, but as soon as the paci falls out she'll wake up and cry.
She sleeps really long streches at night in her bassinet, so she doesn't have to be with me to sleep.
Any ideas on how to better transition her to the crib for naps?
Re: Napping in her crib?
DD never took a nap in her crib until after we started daycare. She napped in her swing most of the time - every morning and some afternoons- when I was on maternity leave.
Do you swaddle her? We swaddled DD for naps longer than we did it at night.
Katelyn was the exact same way with napping. She didn't nap in her crib until she was much older; 9-10 months maybe? She napped at daycare in a swing and napped on us at home.
I wish I had some ideas for you! I think it is great that you are getting her to nap in the crib now. As PP said, swaddling during napping may help. I also let Katelyn sleep on her tummy during nap time (if I was ever lucky enough to get to sleep without being on me). I watched her like a hawk, but she did seem to sleep longer when on her tummy for naps. GL!
