and it's really bothering me today still. I can't stop thinking about it. I barely got any sleep last night I was so upset.
The story:
I was leaving the grocery store yesterday when this crazy lady cut ME off. She beeped her horn at me, like I cut her off. I beeped back at her and she started going crazy in the rearview mirror at me. So I gave her some back. She then pulled in front of me. Slammed her car in park and got out of her car like she was coming at me. I'm 6 months pregnant and no way was I going to sit there and deal with this. So I locked my doors and drove around her. She jumped back in her car and starting following me everywhere!!! It was snowing so the roads were horrible and she was on my bumper the whole time. I was so scared I was shaking. Of course I didn't have my phone on me. I kept having to take turn after turn b/c I was not going home with her following me,
Eventually, she turned and stoped following me. I was home not more than 10 minutes when a police officer showed up. I answered the door and said she did not call the cops on ME?
The officer was really nice and explained he had to come because she called but he could tell her story was not adding up.
I explained what happened and told him I was just telling my DH that I should have called the cops on her. He then told me that if I would have called it would have been a different story. He wasn't even going to fill out a police report because her story was so off.
anyway she told the cops I hit her and ran off!!! Which was a complete lie. She must have had old damage on her car and tried to blame me for it. The poilce officer said her damage didn't add up with a black car hitting her. I had him look at my car so he could see there was no damage.
I found out she only lives 3 blocks from me and I am freaked out now! I am so upset that some lady could make up a story like this when she was the one harrasing me!!!
I have been in a horrible mood all day...I just can't let go of it!
Sorry! I have never vented on here or written anything so long. This lady just really got to me! It's so upsetting that if I would have called they would have done something about her harrassing me.
Re: I had a CRAZY woman call the cops on ME yesterday(long)
totally sucks! that is weird that the cop new where you lived..did she secretly follow you home & told the cop where you lived or did they look you up by your license plate? I think if someone was following me i'd drive to the police station. I'm sure she was just trying to get someone to pay for her car damage or something

So glad you didn't go straight home! In hindsight (I probably wouldn't have thought of this) I would drive to the police dept and let her follow you there.... THEN let her see what happens.
Sorry that happened
That's really scary! That's one of the reasons why I refuse to leave my house without my phone. I work in a not so nice place so I have to be careful of how I drive on my way home because if you cut someone off or whatnot who knows what *** they will pull on you. It's scary.
Thank god the cops didn't believe that lady!!
wow. WOW. crazy for sure. I would have a hard time letting it go as well. sorry.
Just always have your cell phone and always call the cops.

I am so sorry you experienced that!
People are insane! I had a similar situation happen to me when I was in high school. I was just driving along and a man and woman pulled up next to me and waved to get me to roll down my window and when I did he was yelling "you hit my fender"
Ummm, I did not hit anything! You can feel when you hit people going 40 mph and this guy came from out of nowhere... I hadn't even seen this car around me. It was so scary I felt like they were trying to pull something shady so I drove away.
UGH, thats a totally crazy story. I had almost the same thing happen to me. A girl followed me home. I took turn after turn trying to lose her, but she kept following me. Eventually I went home and she tried to beat me up in my driveway. Then later that night the police came, etc. It was brutal. So I get how you feel. In retrospect, I should have drove to the police station, or at least a public place. Totally scary.
In a few days the shock will wear off. Luckily the cop was able to see the truth. I hope you are able to feel safe. Were you able to confirm with the police officer that she will not know your address?
She took down my plate number. It was my husbands car! Which is another reason I gave the police for not wanting to be involved with a hit and run!
I know that is what she was probably trying to do but it just really bothers me someone could make up a story like that.
yes, the office said she would never know my address. He told me she only lives 3 blocks away though. Which is why I am freaked out. I'm worried she will see the car and try and bash it in or something! She is CRAZY!!
If she reported a hit and run on her license plate... they can find out her address pretty easily LOL
Yes your best course of action when someone is following you around is to find the nearest cop and pull up next to them/drive up to the police station.
The police have data from the Department of licensing, so if the license plate is registered to the driver at that home, they would show up there. Like when people run the camera stop lights, the ticket goes to the registered owner of the vehicle.
When i was 3 months pregnant I had the same kind of thing happen. I got into the right lane with plenty of room in front of this jeep. He got all crazy and angry like I cut him off, even though he was like 100 yards behind me. He got in the other lane, and was making crazies at me. I sped up, but there was a red light ahead. When i slowed down near the light, he passed me and pulled a gun on me. I tried to go to the police department myself, but it was closed, so i called and the police acted like i made up the story and said a officer would be sent to my house. No office ever came. I stayed up til midnight, just to make sure. I kept calling the police department because nobody even called me back. I finally got a call like a week later and the office said he couldn't do anything because i didn't get the complete license plate since the spare tire was in the way.

That would really bother me. So much, that i probably wouldn't go to that grocery store for awhile.
there are so many crazy people out there. You absolutely CANNOT engage them in any sort of way. No yelling back, flipping the bird, nothing. If anything, just smile and let them go by.

I don't want to go back to the store either
I have learned my lesson I will never beep back at someone ever again!
I did get his name. We live in a small town and my DH is a teacher. He knows a few of the officer's from teaching their kids. He didn't know this one though.
The officer said he wasn't filling a report. I think I will try calling the officer tomorrow. He was going to go talk to the lady after leaving my house.
That's nuts! Glad you weren't hurt or anything.
And great idea (from some of the responders) about driving to the police station... I wouldn't ever have thought of that! And I've had a crazy follow me once too (at night; I had pulled in front of them accidentally because they were flying down the street and I hadn't seen them when I turned to look to see that the road I was turning onto was clear)... not fun at all.

Holy crap thats nuts!
Thank goodness the cop wasnt buying her bs. I smacked mirrors with a lady one time and when the cop showed up she was saying I had put the huge dent and scrape down the side of her car. He told her "Maybe you should get the kind of car she has because hers looks great" I was grateful he could tell she was lying.
The other day at walmart I pulled in front of someone but it wasnt like I cut them off, I just eased infront of them, I had plently of room. Well the lil punk started blowing his horn, getting on my bumper and flipping me off. He was acting like he was going to pull up next to me once I parked, that is until DFs big self got out of the car. I would have been freaked if I had been alone.
How crazy and scary! What a psycho! I am glad the cop was so nice. All but one time I have had really good experiences with police officers, I think they can usually tell who is telling the truth and who isn't.
Try not to let this crazy upset you too much though. I am sure she will let it go after the police officer told her that she was full of it.

what a crazy story. I am glad you are okay. I would write all this down and keep the cops information somewhere just in case.
when I was around 18 -20 I had a woman slam her brakes on in front of me just to have me "tap her". She tried to sue me for medical and her car and all sorts of stuff. I was lucky I took down all her information and the make model and color of her car. she was trying to pin a totally different car on me. I was also lucky that I got the persons name behind me that formed as witness and It was proven that from her past that she was a scammer... I was too terrified of this crazy woman and her loser husband...
be safe... and I again am glad you are okay.
