Travel Bed for Toddler?

We went out of town over the weekend and took the Pack n Play for Stella.  Turns out she's too big to sleep comfortably in it.  We had Hadley in bed with us and I'd rather stick her in the PNP and do something different for Stella.  Any suggestions?  We're going out of town again in 2 weeks and I'd like to get something for her by then?

We're also just thinking of making up a bed on the floor, but not sure a 1 year old will stay put.  Help me decide!

  • Pea pod is something I used to Preston when he was around Stella's age.

You could also try one of these as well

  • Good golly Miss Molly!  Those toddler travel beds are crazy expensive.  I think poor Stella is going to wind up on the floor with a mat under her or something.

  • I got 2 used Pea Pod Pluses from someone in my mom's group.  They are AWESOME!!  A little loud to sleep in when the boys move around, but I love that I can safety pin the zippers shut so they can't get out and wander around a non-child-proofed house.
  • We have this and love it, it works wonderfully, and Sean knows it is his bed away from home.  We keep a toddler sheet set with it, and its all contained in a single bag.

ETA: We started using it this summer when Sean was almost two, but he could have started using it shortly after we transferred him to a big kid bed at 18 months.

  • We got the PeaPod but I ended up returning it. She didn't like it and I had a helluva time getting it folded back up (the frame got warped). N has slept on a cot at daycare so my MIL bought one for her and for my nephew who is the same age and those worked great. We've also put her on the mattress from the foldout bed on the floor at my parents house and that worked fine too.

I didn't pay full price for my pea pod, I think i paid maybe 40 for it with coupons.

They also make a travel cot time thing that is cheaper too.

  • Great now I'm stressed.   We are supposedly going up to NY this summer (not really wanting to so hopefully we don't) and Nicholas has slept in the PNP each time we've gone up there.  There is no way on this earth that he'd sleep in a travel bed of any sort.  he would think it's play time.

  • We've just done a twin size air mattress.  Granted, Dylan is in a toddler bed, so he knows he's supposed to stay on the air mattress and go to sleep.

  • We're big fans of the peapod too.  It took Miles a couple of naps to get used to it, but once he would take naps in it he was fine over night in it.  We travel to the lake on the weekends in the summer and he broke our PNP because he was too big and tried to climb out of it.  :-(
