Babies on the Brain

I need to whine for a second.

AF came 12 freaking days ago and I'm still bleeding.  I am about to sew my vagina shut.  It's just heavy spotting, but I'm still crampy and it's starting to piss me off.

My insurance hasn't approved the Ovidrel yet.  My follie check is Wednesday at 9am and they asked me to bring it when I come.  So I called insurance a little bit ago (after stopping by the pharmacy and asking about it when I picked up my Metformin) and they said they've had all the information they need from the doctor (which according to my doctor and the pharmacy, they've had for at least a week) but they just haven't approved it yet.  The automated thing one of the bajillion times I called said when they get the information they need, they make a decision within 24 hours.  What.  The.  Fcuk.

I asked how much it would be when they approve it. $85 something.  That saves me right at $20.  When I was at the pharmacy, they told me if I just got it OOP because I couldn't wait for insurance, it's $103.

Twenty dollars?  You're making me sit on hold, talk to about 10 different people, go round and round with the pharmacy and my doctor for TWENTY FCUKING DOLLARS?  Holyshiit, just approve it already.

The last lady I spoke to said she sent somebody an email to put a rush on the decision since I need it within the next 41 hours.

I might hurt someone if this nonsense continues.

  • I hate that kind of insurance. With ours, if something isn't normally covered it's up to your doctor, and your doctor only, to make it covered or not.

Since it's only a $20 difference - if it's not approved in time for the appointment do you think you could buy it and have them refund the difference when it's approved? Or is it the kind of place where buying it cancels your request for approval?

They did mention that during one of the many phone calls.  She said I could just go ahead and buy it and keep the receipt and submit a claim once it's approved.

However, I'm buying through my HSA and as big of a pain in the rear this has been thus far, I am going to wait as long as I can (until about this time tomorrow because I'm not driving all the freaking way over here before my appointment Wednesday) to buy it if that's what I have to do in hopes they approve it before I have no choice but to wait and file a claim.  Because I'm sure then I'll be taxed on the $20 they give back if I don't put it back in the HSA (which is another giant pain in the ass).

Have I mentioned that I hate my prescription insurance coverage?
