Ethan has decided that he doesn't want to be spoon fed AT ALL. Great, fine, eat with your hands then, I'm all for finger foods. However, what do you do when you need them to eat goopy stuff like yogurt? (He had C diff a few months ago, we try to give him yogurt once a day to keep his good bacteria "in control")
He doesn't really have any interest in attempting to hold the spoon and feed himself either (not to mention not having any control). If I give him the spoon, he just waves and bangs it around. Anything I do get in his mouth from spoon feeding, he immediately spits out (even though I know he likes it). I'm at a loss.
Re: Solid eating issue: what do you do?
Well, the only things we give DS vis spoon are oatmeal, yogurt, and applesauce. In our house, it'd be no big deal to just skip these foods, but I definitely get your desire to continue giving him yogurt given his history!
Will he take a sippy cup? Could you try a yogurt-based smoothie?
That's a good idea but while he does get a sippy cup, he really isn't so much into actually drinking what's in it. He'll drink a small amount and then whatever else he gets he spits out (for whatever reason, he thinks this is hilarious and we don't provide any reaction to him doing this---yes, he's a goofy child). However, I'm willing to give this a shot at this point.
I'm hoping the spitting/raspberry thing is just a phase, sigh.
