Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Went to L&D for PP bleeding.

what a mess! I got there after bleeding a bunch and thought I might also have an infection.  As soon as I went in my BP was sky high. 158/101 and continued that high for quite some time. I had severe pre-e with my first pregnancy, so they were really concerned. They drew labs and continued the bp checks for ever. It finally went down to 140/85. They crazy tech blew my freakin veins twice, I have two huge welts on my arm.

The labs came back ok, but I'm to go back to checking my bp twice a day and reporting any symptoms.  I seriously thought I escaped pre-e and annoyed it still has 5 more weeks to creep back.

The doctor said everything else looked fine and seemed normal. I saw the same doc that delivered Ryan, so it was nice. She loved holding him.

I also NIP'd at the waiting room and nursed again in the triage room. wa hoo!!!

  • I am sorry your day was so horrible, but I am glad everything seems to be ok!

  • That sucks...

It probably isn't the nurses fault your veins broke. Blood pressure is generally the culprit.

  • Congrats on NIP!!  At least you can sleep better tonight knowing its not an infection.

yeah, she did say it was hard because my bp was so high. Ok, I forgive her. But my arm still hurts like hell!

  • Hey, hun :)

I'm glad you went in and that things are ok. What did they say about the bleeding?

The only NIPing I've done is with my entire boob out. I'm still not talented enough to be discrete... unless you count just throwing a blanket over both of our heads ;)

::kicks pre-e in the shins:: Hope your BP stays down

Pre-e SUCKS! The nurse did the same to me when she tried to put in my iv. I almost up-chucked from the gush. Also explained why when the lab tech tried to take my blood at my 2hr GD test, the needle literally popped out of my arm. lol

Hope yours goes down soon! Mine's still up there at 4 weeks pp. I wonder if high bp contributes to more pp bleeding...kind of makes sense?
