Head rush during contractions?

Last night I was having my nightly false labor (3/4 pain scale contractions from about 2/3 in the afternoon until 2/3 in the morning) and I started having what I would describe as a head rush during each one. My face would feel warm all of a sudden, I would lose my breath, and I would feel a bit dizzy. Has this happened to anyone else and do you know if it is normal? I would call my OB, but lately they have been treating me like I am a bother if I am not in active labor...Super Angry

Re: Head rush during contractions?

  • I have felt like this during some of the contractions...mine is from my blood pressure jumping up. Can you take your BP and see if that's the cause? Apparently it is not a concern. The OB saw it happening and said it was very common.

  • Hopefully it's nothing, I'd definitely check your BP if you can though, and mention it to the doc.

  • Yes, with DS I would get really flushed with contractions.  I haven't felt it yet this time.  But it happened even in the hospital when I was in labor and no one seemed concerned.

  • This happened to me today.  I'm not sure if I was flushed, but I felt dizzy during a couple of contractions.  I almost felt like passing out for a second, but then I was ok.  I haven't asked my MW about it, but if that happens for every contraction when I'm in real labor, that might be a little scary.
