So Evan never really took to purees, but he has jumped feet first into table food and I'm not sure how much I should actually give him. When he starts banging on his tray instead of eating, or just kinda holding his food I decide the meal is over.
As an example, for breakfast I gave him his bottle (7 oz), 1/2 a YoBaby yogurt, and half a piece of toast. He seemed pleasently full. For lunch (on the weekends) I may give him a half a slice of cheese, about an ounce of grilled chicken, and a slice of a peach.
He drinks 5 - 7oz bottles a day, gets 3 small-ish "meals," and a snack in the afternoon.
At daycare the teacher said he is always hungry and that she gives him 2 snacks a day (one in the morning with his 10:00 bottle) and one in the afternoon (before his 4:00 bottle). She also said that when the other babies are getting a bottle he wants it. I don't think he is hungry, I think it is just a response to seeing the bottle and not understanding that it isn't his.
Any suggestions as to how I can gage if I am feeding him enough at home and if I am sending enough to daycare? Also, could he be having a growth spurt?

Re: How much food?
Sean began eating a lot at that age. For breakfast, we sent two mini waffles, fruit, and one scrambled egg. We would pack a protein, a veg, and a fruit for lunch. (Maybe a quarter cup?) Then, he would have two snacks. We sent three 8 oz. bottles. For dinner he would eat a similar amount to lunch.
We know he's full because he starts dropping food on the floor.
I found at daycare that they are good at feeding them until they're satisfied. They'll send home what is not eaten.
We took awhile to get the right amount in his kit.
He is not heavy (10-25%ile). He does, however, eat a lot. At 15 mos., he does well with the same amount as we send with our 4 year old.
Thanks for the feedback! Evan he never really been an eater and is in the 25-50%, so I had no idea that he may be able to eat anywhere near that much. I'll just keep trying and see how it goes. I'm also working more on trying to give him a well-rounded meal and an assortment of foods.
BTW - Your boys are sooooo cute! And Evan has those same robot jammies.

You're welcome. I just feed them, but I remember reading this site a lot when I was trying to figure things out with Lucas:

Thank you for the compliment. That is an old picture; I guess it is time to update my siggy.
Ditto this, I prefer to have food come home from school. The days that he eats everything I send I worry whether he got enough. I keep apple sauce, cereal bars, crackers and other snack foods in his cubby at school just in case.
